Default Tail Block Sanding

Hi,

While assembling my New fusion50 i sanded the tail block after hearing about stripping the black gears, but now the tail block is hard to tighten the screws but i tightened them with some force and it is now very tight on the bearings.. is this normal after sanding the tail block??

Thanks,

Probably sanded a little too much? I sanded mine down yesterday and kept checking just til there was no play.

Yeah I would say you went a little too much, I really took a little bit at a time off and held it together by hand to check how tight it was.

You really gotta do a few strokes and check... and repeat till its good. First thing I did was just knock down all of the peaks... that was not quite enough so I repeated till I got it right.

Is there a noticeable gap now?

Can you post a picture?

Did you examine it after fully assembling the block/boom/gears to the frame? Or just partly assembled on the bench?

I will post a pic after getting back home because i am out now..

i examine it after assembling and it seems to work fine, but i think the gearing train is tight with the black gears because when is spin the head by hand it didn't spin freely even not one turn.. not like my TREX it spins 5-6 turns

With main blades off or on?

My F50 spins over TWENTY times by hand (with main blades on)

First... fly it around 5-10 times... if it won't spin at least 15 times after that you may need to do the mod some of us have done in the past.. and that is file the 8 tail block holes slightly so you can adjust the mesh a little loser up front.

I had to break the gears in a little bit... after less than 15 flights it would go 20+ turns... now it just spins forever.

Mine was also very tight. I had to open the boom mounting holes out with a file as the tail jack shaft was really tight. On my first flight after about a minute my tail gears went silent and after 5 flights went silky smooth.

I installed the main blades and tried to spin them by hand and they spin 2-3 rounds

Looks fine from that angle... if everything went together ok and the bevel gear does not move... then I think you will be fine, just dont forget to lube the gears with some (gear worthy) grease or silicon spray.

Mine only went round 2-3 times when brand new, just take it easy the first few flights and don't beat on it to hard

Give it 10 flights and it should loosen up enough... Never needed to do any mods, it will spin freely after the first bunch of flights
