Maybe the orgs should make a special shirt or a pin or something: "I sucked at flying but had a blast at the HFFF! And nobody laughed!"

I know the Team Tail-In award is far too exclusive for this consideration; requires mastery of the tail-in piroflip and so forth...

I might have to quit my job to get time to get my helis off the bench and into the air, but I'll do what's necessary to come down there and slop it around up in the air.

I didn't make it last year but will this time yahoo!!!! I heard it was lots of fun last year. Anyone got a guesstimate of how many people attended all together? Just trying to gage the magnitude of this invasion LOL.

Last year we had 154 registered pilots. On Saturday, there were probably 250-300 people at the field (lots of spectators) for most of the day.

This year we're planning for 200 pilots and close to an equal amount of spectators Friday and Saturday.

The field is about 90 acres in size and we're going to do our best to use it all.

I've got to pace myself better this year. I was totally baked by Saturday last year. In fact....that's the ONLY time (so far) I've ever tried to go inverted in normal mode. Wasn't pretty....

I felt like my kids before Christmas mornng. I couldn't sleep. It was a heck of alot of fun.

For anybody that hasn't seen redneck night flying be prepared for a show. I was blown away. You don't want to miss it.

Hi. Fun Fly newbie question here. I'm planning on coming, and I would love to do some flying, but I just don't understand what this "fighting for a spot" thing means. Can you explain?

He's talking about the availability of space to set up your table or shelter. The later you get there, the lower the chance of getting a good spot.

Exactly. We're not exactly pressed for space at this field, but if you want an ez-up at the main runway, you'll probably want to be there on Friday morning.

We're down to the home stretch and something came up in a phone call the other day... Fire safety. Even though the fire department is right across the freeway from the field, we could use some extinguishers on-site in case we have an issue.

If you have an extinguisher, please bring it. You can keep it with your gear, but be aware we may call on you to help put out any fire that may spring up.

Lastly, pre-registration is going very slowly. Only 29 people registered thus far. Pre-registering helps us out by allowing us to verify your AMA status ahead of time and will get you through the registration line much more quickly than registering on-site. It will also allow us to better estimate how many event shirts to print up. Some of you may remember that we ran out of shirts Saturday afternoon last year and we don't want to have to turn anyone away who may want an event shirt.

See the 1st post in this thread for the link to the registration page.

Last year there were only 50 pre-registered pilots when we opened the gate at 0700 on Friday. There were over 100 by 1PM. We're not worried about attendance, just trying to smooth the process and get reasonable numbers for shirt orders and food.

When is the last day to pre-register?

I'm just awaiting my vacation time to be approved at work.
