Default Gaui x7 vs Whiplash parts count: Gaui 115, Whiplash 130

I downloaded both manuals and counted the parts list at the back of each manual.

Gaui X7 has 115 different parts

Whiplash has 130 different parts



The above does not include the number of individual bolts and screws etc, just how many DIFFERENT parts make up each helicopter.

As you can see, the Gaui X7 has less than the Whiplash 700 flybarless.

And the point is what? The X7 bundles it's individual pieces into less "parts" packs? Makes ordering spares easier I suppose?

Thanks for the efforts Adam. Really though...... does it matter what heli has what.They are all different and as individuals we all like/look for different things

All I, like most others want is a heli that flies well for us and being a precision instrument appreciate and understand the abilities to make it as good as it can be for our needs.

When i hear comments like this from people with alot of experience with different products, makes me think alot are on a good thing. Time will tell as always.

Well said Vas. Even the best kits can have their quirks. I have built about every brand you can think of aside from TDR, Shape, and Kasama, and they each have had at lease one part that didn't quite go the way the manufacturer said.

Number of parts... I never understood why this mattered. If one manufacturer is able to make the same size machine for fewer parts, good on them, but why does that make the rest less quality? I guess more parts "Could" mean more crash costs... /shrug I think crash cost and cost of ownership all together depend on how you fly/crash your rigs.

If you like the way a heli flies and it get some kind of joy out of, then that's all that matters.

another thing i like about gaui is they release it when its dead on, i cant speak for the x7 yet but the x5 was very robust, no issues ever and ive beat the crap out of this heli every time up. iv had a few friends comment or rather voice empathy for the little x5 after a beating. im not a competition flyer by any means but i can torture a x5. if the x7 follows suit it will be relatively seamless out of the box. i have had to "tweak" my fusion a bit to make it great and i now really enjoy it.

If you(adam) Would have read the parts list you would see there are 39 different listings on the Ma for bolts nuts and washers, 11 on gaui. Both the flybarless and flybarred head parts are on the ma parts list because one manual does both versions. The gaui has many more parts and is a tougher build. this is from personal experience (having built both) not parts listed on a manual. Neither build is too difficult the gaui is just a little more work and imho a little more taxing. i Can't say how the ex seven compares to any other 700s because I don't own any other 700 besides the whiplash and x7. I must say after about 20 hours the x7 started to be aesthetically more pleasing (took a while to get used to that squatty design). The ma looks noticeably larger which could be advantageous during flight. The gaui on the other hand looks like a cheetah ready to make chase it really is an Impressive looking machine.

Well the Compass 7HV has 210 part numbers or something, yet I highly doubt it's reflective of actual parts. Just like the X7 or whiplash a lot of parts are bundled into these parts numbers, I'm guessing the 7HV less so. I can't imagine it has almost twice the number of parts than an X7

JUST opened mine up. Man this thing rocks! The CF looks awesome (must be a huge matter of opinion), the plastic main gear looks massive and tough regardless of material. This things will be the sky's nuts! Parts count high or low, you only assemble once...

I just got mine an hour ago..the canopy is almost the same size of my compass 600.The quality is not as good as a Logo canopy (Awesome paint job). There is sags, runs and pits in the clearcoat. Oh well, if I dont like it, I'll sell the kit cheap and get a Rave Ballistic FSO

I could care less about parts count myself, as long as the build makes sense. As far as frames go, for sure CF can look good but be completely different, I learned this only after my first Custom Heli Parts frame set. By a VERY long margin the stiffest CF plate I have ever had in my hands vs the same thickness from another manufacturer. Im sure the Gaui CF is fine also. My X5 build seemed to be of ok quality and I can only hope they have improved on it.

Wow it is too, I'd never had believed you without the pick though, it sure doens't look small on the frame. I mean look at how much bigger the 7HV canopy is!

Well, this build is on par with an Align kit. I had wrong screw lengths (Just 3, some should have been 8mm, but was 6mm), I hated the look of the skids, so I changed them and my damn canopy front mounts didnt line up, the rears ones did (The little asian dude must of been drunk on rice wine while he was punching out the holes). I had to bend the front canopy forwards(I guess I got unlucky, looks like others dont have this problem)..All in all, is it turning out to be a 900.00 kit? We will see...

My front canopy posts are off slightly also but that is the least of my issues. I Have a feeling we will be hearing a lot more complaints now that everybody's gotten their kits.

We can expect to hear a lot of praises too i hope from me once i get a motor that fits. I wish they would've accounted for more than one bolt pattern.
I'm sorry if you don't like my complaining but I expect my machine to be right especially when I pay this kind of money for it And if we do not complain about the bad issues on these machines nothing will ever get fixed.

I thought the older scorpion motor fit with 2 bolts?

No they have a 25mm bolt pattern only the hkIII version has 25 & 30. I Almost made the mistake and bought an x-era motor which also only has a 25 mm bolt pattern . Now I'm waiting for a 5020-450 KV which unfortunately will have very low head speeds even with the 12th to pinion. Does anyone know if they'll be coming out with larger pinions or is there even enough room for that as far as mesh adjustment?

Be careful with the ball links that gaui provides I had two split just threading them on so i switched all to quick UK. Im not willing to take the chance of one failing in flightn

Gauis ball links are just fine and, i think better than align ones and thicker too. but I have had are some poorly finished links, but haven't broken any, Those links fit to the link balls perfectly. I can't see any problem.
