I have a buddy who had a tail gear set up similar where it is pinned and then you have a set screw to hold it in. he highly recommended wrapping heat shrink tube around the plastic so the pin holding the gear on the tailshaft. doesn't come out especially at the high rpms these will be running. Seems like a good precaution to me.

For what it is worth, the pin on the tail gear output shaft is held with a set screw.
