No, the Vortex sensor is different to the Quark.

No the spartan is a single axis gyro... It can only detect rotation in the yaw axis. In order to be able to work as a FBL controller it has to be able to detect in roll and pitch as well, hence why you see the term 3 axis gyro thrown around with FBL controllers.

The Spartan Quark is a single axis gyro, the Spartan Vortex is a 3 axis gyro

yes of course I aready know that the quark is a single axis gyro... I use one every day...and I know the vortex is a FBL 3 axis system.

but I was assuming there could be some sort of compatibility between the vortex main module and the spartan quark as I saw this picture somewhere, then I was thinking "cool i can keep using my quark and buy a vortex main module without having to buy the yaw axis extension!" :

The sensor case might be the same but the internals are surely different. I can see where you were coming from though.

The problem is that the photo was reused on other websites out of context. When I shared it on a helifreak thread it was just meant to show people how the system looks like. At the time the production materials had not yet arrived. On the control box I stuck a piece of laser printed paper; with the sensor I got lazy and used a Quark label.
