I read somewhere that some folks have successfully used the middle hole with no modifications. I'm sorry I don't have any more info than that.

not really sure about no modifications since you would have to use shorter linkage rods.

Why couldn't you use the top hole and just change your pitch links to turnbuckles of the correct length. Just use link rods that are shorter by 10mm. If one is worried about geometry changes, then change the 3 swash links to ones 10mm shorter.
I already use 60mm seacraft pitch link turnbuckles on the F50 head on my Outrage 550, I would just need 50mm turnbuckles. http://www.espritmodel.com/pushrod-t...raft-m3-2.aspx ![]()

By no modifications, I meant no grinding, cutting, or drilling. Changing link lengths is pretty simple.

All you would need to do is cut 5mm off each end of the linkage rod. Mine have plenty of thread on them.
The thing I would worry about is a boom strike. I have seen a few as stock. I think this was the dampeners but this mod may add to the possibility.

I know there have been guys flying the F50 head on the O550, in the lower position and have had no problems, or boom strikes.

you shouldnt need to change the dampers. If you are having boom strikes your blades are too lose in the grips.

There are NO mods needed in order to run the stock F50 using the middle hole.
I've used that location from the very start (2nd batch released to the market). The pitch links have plenty of room to thread in deep, and zero pitch setup is easily achieved. No other adjustments needed. This is an old topic, and I thought MOST were using this middle hold? The top hole?... now that's a different story, but shorter pitch links solves that issue too. |

You mentioned that you'll be runnin' KBDD lime green dampers?
Give it a try... but most of us that have tried 'em have suffered from either low-speed or high-speed excessive vibrations. They are wayyy too stiff for this heli. The orange and yellow ones seem to work better, but the Stock ones work perfectly for all types of flying. |

I'm on the middle hole with no mods at all. I'm running the BLUE kbdd dampners which are very stiff and take a decent amount of effort to get in.

Is there a noticeable difference after switching the head height by 5mm from the bottom hole to the middle?
I set mine up per the manual and don't recall any recommendations regarding using the other holes. I figured the additional holes were there for those who were using the fbl head as an upgrade on other models...
