2Y windings are supposed to be better, right? I thought I read somewhere this winding configuration has less internal losses and it's easier for ESCs to deal with. Means no KSA mode with Jive ESCs.

You should get one right away, zee.

Then report back with power and vibe comparisons.

I finally got the chance to fly the pre-production sample I got yesterday.

All I can say is wow. I have +/- 13 pitch and 10 degree cyclic. I can bog the 600MX easily when push the full throttle stick all the way up at a pitch pump. The KDE motor handles it really nice. The down side is my Voltz 3700 mAh 35C cannot keep up with it. The voltage alarm (set at 40.8v = 3.4v per cell) was triggered very easily. The Pulse 3700 mAh 65C can keep up the demand most of the time.

Be prepared boys and girls, this motor needs a decent battery packs to show its full potential.

Are you using the SK gov, the ESC gov, or fixed endpoints?

Other than being a flying vibrator, my 600mx has great power. I also am using the Voltz 3700's. They are fading off earlier than I hoped. I take pretty good care of them. Probably won't be buying any more Voltz packs. They are sure light for their capacity, however.
Just ordered 2x 3800 Gens Ace packs. See how that goes...

Just pre-ordered the 600XF

Running SK gov at 2350 idle 1. ESC is HW 70HV.

Still bogged with the proactive gov? Hmmm.

Anyway, hopefully the new GensAce packs will be the shiz. Otherwise, it's big $$$ for TP packs.

What ESC are you using? If its a castle can you take a look at the logs and see the spikes? Interested in what the max current draw is...

Edit - sorry just saw you are using an HW... Nevermind!

When running it on my 550 with 553mm blades, the max current draw was around 95A and average around 25A. The voltage alarm did not triggered with 2 x Zippy 40C 2650mAh. The current draw on 600 pro is higher because of the higher HS, 600mm blades, and heavier weight. Too bad I don't have a log. I am curious to know the current draw on a 600 pro too.

The previous post wasn't meant to scare you guys. Like everything else power related, you need to provide more energy on the input side to obtain more power at the output end. More powerful motor is harder on the ESC and battery. The Scorpion LE motors are one of the examples. As mentioned in my previous post, the motor works great on the Voltz 35C battery and works even better with Pulse 65C. I can't afford the TP 65C packs. I will look for some alternatives. Nano-tech has 65C packs, not sure how do those work.

What I really meant to say was you need a good battery packs if you are looking for serious power from this motor.

I just installed this motor in my Compass 6HV. I can't find recommended motor timing and see little mention of it anywhere. Still waiting for email reply from KDE customer support.

I'm currently running it with the stock HobbyWing 70A esc and may upgrade as needed. I was having problems with the stock Compass motor after 150 flights and the KDE was intended more as a replacement than a power upgrade. I'm mostly hoping for better durability and efficiency with less vibration.

I put in a couple flights at the default ESC timing of 15 deg and the motor came down very warm (much warmer than the stock motor). ESC temps were reasonable and unchanged from stock motor.

I didn't have enough time for more trial and error with different timing. Any input appreciated.

I heard back from KDE Direct by email in a timely manner. Here's is what the email recommended for motor timing.

"The recommended timing for the Castle Creations controllers is Low (0), which produces a dynamic timing in the range of 5-8 degrees. Based on the Hobbywing manual, try 7.5 degrees initially and then you can increase this up to 15 degrees depending on your liking."

Well, KDE's specs state max power at 7,500 Watts.

Divided that by 45.6 Volts and you get 164 Amps.

My Compass 6HV runs 615mm blades but is closer in weight/size to an Align 550. I also don't run crazy pitch or HS so I'm hoping I can get away with the Castle 80HV.
