I just can't find clear answers in this. So may I please ask if you know good standard settings for this motor.
I'm not so experienced so I can tell when the motor is running smooth or so. Just use some standard setting and then in the future maybe learn this. But for now. What timing and pwm do you recommend? For running this motor cold but efficient on a YGE 120HV controller. (the motor is the same as Scorpion HKII)

Sorry! correction, for YGE, try 18 degree.

ok, I actually have 8 kHz and 5 degree now, but I will change to 18 degree then! (have not tried it yet).
Thanks!

just to add something interesting...
found a formula: pwm = Kv x pole count x nominal volts used / 20 = 560 x 12 x 44 / 20 = 14,8k so I got 14 kHz and set the ESC on that. What a difference! More power now, much more torque, but the motor runs alot warmer also (but it goes smooth and nice in both cases). Well well. I guess it's a trade off. Coldness or Power. For now I think I prefer the latter option

forget this formula!
there are much more influences than only nspec, voltage and number of poles!!! it doesn't really works. |

ok! thanks for bringing light on this matter. I guess it's a trial and error process of finding the best value for your setup. I hope I found mine now

Check temps on both ESC and motor, I've found it depends on what ESC, and what motor.
Scorpion ESC likes 5 degree, Hobbywing must be set at 15 Likewise Xera needs higher than Scorpion motors and so on.

alright, here's the inside. I thought it was supposed to be other bearings than standard there. But whatever, it's good anyway. The magnets are really strong when you pull it out.

I have seen you post about that formula being no good and most of us know you are an expert on this subject. Is there any sort of formula one could use to determine optimum PWM and timing?

there is no formula, but you can follow manufacturers recommendation and then check motor temps performance etc, if it doesn't work well tweak from there.
