Running very slow H/S, bigger tail blades?

Hello chaps

I'm currently in the middle of putting one of my 550s into a Funkey scale fuselage. I've slowed my headspeed right down to cut responsiveness and give me a more scale like flight experience by gearing the heli down to about 1600rpm as well as cutting the cyclic pitch to about 5 degrees. I'm quite happy with the way it flies but am slightly worries about the tail authority.

I'm running 85mm align carbon tail blades, do you think it might give me more tail authority if I put some bigger blades on?

Am I wise? (this question is optional)

...I run 92mm on my 550 at around 2k HS though...
CF 600 tail blades from Hobbypartz ...were approx. 3.00/pair
...Along with a Raptor Vert.Tail ....

I've run 95's, but I have a T-Rex 600 tail on mine.

...Like Scott said, 95's will will work too, but you will need the LOONG tail to keep them from self-destruction...some peeps put a Wire on the bottom of the tail too.
92 work best IMHO...

Ok PT thanks, Scott can you just clarify are you running the 600 tail and boom etc or just a 600 fin?

Just the fin, Nick. Sorry for the confusion.

Tail wise, now I'm running the CNC Heli case, output shaft and pulley, pitch slider and arms, with the X5 hub, grips, and 92mm kbdd's.

Cool, thanks Scott - (sigh of relief).

I spoke to Raj at Align T-Red this morning and he told me he runs 95mm tail blades on his TRex 550......interesting.
I'm going to experiment with 95s and see how we go....might be worth videoing!!

Guys, update. Put some Spin 95s on and the tail was awesome...they work really well.
