Default 2 tails in 2 days

I had 2 crashes in 2 days same way, never got more than a couple of inchs off the ground. banked hard to the right. I starting to think servos. When I got the raptor it had 832's on it and I knew I had to replace them. All I'll be doing is ff and lite sport, what are some relatively inexpensive servos for a 50. I'm starting to tired of replacing the boom tail fin, boom supports and blades. I had 2 good flights inbetween the 2 crashs, it happened so quick I'm not sure what went wrong

I have JR 8314's in mine (built it a number of years ago). I would think Savox might be good, as well.

At least some of the Spektrum servos are re-branded Savox, I believe.

Thanks it's a little frustrating when the crashs aren't because of your own dumb mistakes. At least Im consistant, broke the same parts both times Hey Flydawg I liked your pond video. lol

So your crashing because of a possible crappy servo and you want to replace them with cheap servos? Electronics are simply not the place to cut costs on a Heli!

Theres got to be a way to be 100% that the servo is the problem. Im not familiar. with the 832 but I wouldn't replace it if I did'nt have the $ til I was sure that it is the problem. I also am in the hobby with very limited funds I am currently running 821's and need better servo's.

I was incorrect, there 821's. If I hold the servos while moving the stick they all seem very strong, except the one on the collective pitch arm. It takes very little force to hold it from moving. and when I let go it moves. I don't know if that means it's bad or not. It doesn't feel like striped gears, I did that on a couple on my 450. So i'm guessing it's a bad servo. I've read the 821's aren't ment for a 50 size nitro heli even though the LHS says there ok for lite sport, which is all i'm doing at this point, and the 821's are on my list of things that need to be replaced when I have a spare $3-400 to get decent ones. Thanks for the reply djaypro, what do you have the 821's on?

On a raptor you don't have to get all three at once
replace your bad servo with a align 610 then change another later and so on
Just saying it is an option to better servos

I drive an 18 year old Toyota. I didn't mean to come across the way I did. It just seems way too many post here (not referring to you) that all they want to know is the cheapest way to fly. They either quit or spend twice as much in the end. I have old school futaba servos in my Raptor with a 9254 on the tail. It worth every bit of $120. Even with a GY401 my tail is solid.

rstekeur, did you replace the main shaft and feathering shaft after either crash?

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like a butt , at the field I go to some of the guys pull up with motor home and trailers and have more money in their hobby than I paid for my house. lol. Thats great if you can afford it, I drive a 11 yo Toyota. It's a hobby I'm on a budget but I do know what your taking about when tring to go cheap and in the end spending twice as much because of bad gear and crashes. Ive been luckly as far as crashes except for the last 2 on the raptor. I spend a lot of time on the sim and try not to exceed my abilities. I appricate the advice. I didn't check the main shaft but I did turn the screw in the bade grip for the feathering shaft and didn't see any wobble. I didn't know you can miss-match the servos, I thought all the cyclic had to be the same

Mine are on a 50 titan. I have a 537 on my throttle. I would make sure you have good power either remove another servo and see if the result is the same or invest more $ and get a new servo.Either way you will end up with new better servo's anyway. LHS is correct the 821's will work I have been running mine for some time now but they are out dated and I was never satified. I do stick bang. I think better servo's will make a world of differance for cyclic control.
Not sure what battery your using but if your running a nimah I would never go fly with out knowing my battery had a full charge. Also I only do 2-3 flights before charging.

"By the way" I heard the same thing about servo's being the same. I think if the electric part of the servo matches it's alright. But Im still learning about this concept.

I was worried about the rx battery not knowing what the charge was, so I got a align 2 in 1 bec and I think it's a 1100 2cell lipo so that way it has the led meter on the side. Plus it has the glow igniter. I'd hate to have a dead battery in flight. I have an extra 821 I'm going to try and see how that works and eventully replace all the servos with something better. I really like the raptor it's a nice flying heli and easy to work on. I hope to give it another try this weekend

I also been hearing that you dont need the rubber mounts for the servo's. Dont know if I agree with that on a nitro. ??
