Question mCX grounded in Germany

A while ago I sent my mCX and LP5DSM radio to a friend in Germany. I'd never had a problem with either, but the second day he had it the radio would not bind to the heli. The dipswitches in the radio are set correctly. I explained the bind procedure to him: minimum throttle, trims in mid-position, attach battery to mCX, turn on radio, wait for LED to stop flashing. If that fails, recharge the battery and try again. He says he has done all of those things and yet the LED continues to flash. (He's a smart guy, an engineer.)

Can anyone suggest what problem he might be having?

Thanks.

You didn't mention that you have to push the trainer swith up while turning on the power on the Tx.

Yes, the LP5DSM goes into bind mode every time it is turned on, no need to hold any switches.

Yup, only switch 8 needs to be up, per the binding instructions in the manual.

Instructions are on page 8.

light on which, TX or RX? If it is on the RX have him check the antenna wire. If he crashed pretty hard it could have loosened or broke it off so it's not getting good signal. or it can be in the RX's CB it's self. and if not that then it may be in the TX's CB or antenna connection. It sounding like signal loss or interference.

Dfreak, I was playing around with my mCX S300 and LP5DSM today and found what just might be the problem. On the Transmitter at the top left there is a spring loaded toggle switch labeled TRN. When I had everything set, I held the toggle switch on and powered on the Trans and just as the 3rd beep on the trans I released the toggle: Binding failed. I did the setup all over again and did the same thing with that toggle switch; Binding worked.
Is it possible that the toggle switch had been in the on position by some means while trying to bind just when Binding started failing? It's a possibility to check!
