Tail servo jerking even in setup mode

Hi.

My tail servo (BLS251) is jerking even when I am in the setup mode to set the max. travel. Is that common or is there a electrical problem? I can understand when this happens in the normal flight mode because of the algorithm, but in setup mode?

What voltage? The BLS251 is a 4.8 –5v servo so if you are running more than 5v that would be the problem.

At exactly 5V. The jerking is periodically round about 3-4 seconds. In flight everything is fine...

I have a MKS BLS990 on the tail and when I'm in setup it kicks randomly every few seconds. Doesn't happen outside setup, and no problems in flight.

I've been operating a couple BLS 251 servos for around 2 years on 6v.

I thought that Futaba had even OK'd this.

I "borrowed" a WR voltage step down from one heli to put on another. Much later I found the step down in bag I keep my tach, temp guage and other accessories in.
I realized that 2 heli's with 251's on the tail had been operating on 6v for a while.

Found out later that a lot of guys were doing the same thing so I never changed it.

=] Futaba have rated the BLS251 @ 6v, mine is into its 3rd season at this voltage, works fine.

it does tick away to itself in setup mode, this is normal.
