Default i think i goofed

sup gents, hope all is well. i think i goofed. today i went to run my 450 and forgot i hadnt charged last night. i plugged it in, spooled up, got it level, then noticed it wasnt hammering. so i set it down, unplugged it, put my 210 balancer on it, and got a blinking led light for 5 seconds with no led's. so it saying low voltage as per the instructions. so i got out my 1010c charger, programmed it for 3s 20.05, and hit the charge button. my charger gave me a code 1: voltage or reversed polarity. well, i run deans plugs, this is impossible. so its voltage. looked at the cell v's and saw it was 2.98. so i guess now i have ran it to low right. can it be fixed?????????? if so you would rule. 1ts a tp 2070mah 3cell 25c 50c extreme battery. i have tried charging as a 2 cell. no luck. i have even tried at lower rates (i.e. 50%, 95%, fast charge) all to no luck. if anyone knows a swell lil secret.... thanks for even reading, cory

Following a flying session I once carried on fiddling with the servo setup on the heli for 1/2 hour or so and ended up in the same situation (this was with a FP2170 that I had for about a week before the incident).

My charger refused to charge the battery becasue of low voltage. However the charger I used then (a cheap Prolux model) had a mode where you could 'force' charge for 30 secs. I had to use this 30 sec force twice before the main charger programme would accept that the voltage was high enough. Since then the battery has continued to perform fine (that was 7 months ago now).

Does your charger have a means of briefly 'forcing' a charge? If not it may be that one of your friends will have a simple charger with this facility?

or you can charge it with a 12v power supply that is 1 amp or under through your deans conectors for 1 min to get the volts back up just keep a eye on it .

Get the TP programming cable and download the latest firmware for your 1010C. The newest one comes with a low voltage recovery mode, works very well too I might add.

Another way that has worked for me, was to put the battery on a NiMH charger and watch the voltage. soon as I got 3 v per cell I would pull it off the NiCd/NiMh charger and back onto the Lipo charger, worked like a charm.

I've never drained one this low but, as with most everything else...... stuff travels from high to low.... therefore you could put another pack in tandam with it and it should equalize the two packs within min's or you could pull it off after a min or so. Its just a theory but, it should work from an electrical standpoint.

Blazer - I don't think that would be a safe approach since you have no way to limit the current. The charged pack is a low-impedance source which will pump as much current as possible into the low pack = BAD.

Carlo's solution is better. Use a controlled constant current (CC) source like a NiCd/NiMH charger set for a low charge current, I would use only 100mA. Monitor the voltage until it gets close to 3V/cell then terminate the charge.

if anyone you know has a cellpro charger, try it on that.... it has a cell recovery mode.
it will slowly and safely bring the voltage up and recover the cells it has saved a few of my packs that would have been ruined other wise.
