Guys,
I am setting up a jive 120HV with a v-bar 5.0, Futaba BLS 451 servos and a Kontronik 700-52 motor on 12s. I would like to use the internal BEC with no back-up NIMH pack, as I'll be running the servos at 5.6v and don't anticipate overstressing the BEC at all. So...I set the Jive to mode 4 and set up the v-bar. I set the v-bar up by using separate power supply so the ESC would not be armed during set-up. Now, the heli is ready to fly, and when I plug the main Lipos in to the ESC, it initializes with the three ascending tones, then it does 6 quick sets of two beeps (so twelve beeps in all, but is 6 sets of 2). Every time it beeps, the light on the ESC flashes briefly. Given my eletrical set-up, the ESC is initializing either just before or at the same time as the Rx and V-bar unit as they only get power once the main Lipos are plugged in. Then, the ESC seems to work fine. Any idea if these beeps mean something? I used to run this same ESC with the red wire removed from the throttle cable with an external BEC, and it never did these "extra" beeps. Any thoughts are appreciated. - Ben |

Lipo cutoff mode, it means it detected 12 cells (6 double beeps)

Mr Mel - thanks for the reply! So, is this an issue, or can I just fly it. If it is just telling me that I am in Lipo cut-off mode, that is not a problem right?

I've got the exact same issue. Got the 6 double beeps right after programming LiPo mode...thought it was the error code for internal error (send back to kontronic for servicing). (I have 12S LiPo by the way)
Then I read this and another similar issue on RR. My issue is that I can no longer program modes. Following MrMel youtube vid on how to program Kontroic ESC, when I power up the ESC I get the arming tones and then immediately the 6 double beeps...pulling the jumper does not result in the series of tones for programming. I even put a prog 1 card on it, reset it, made the appropriate selections and when LiPo plugged in, same thing....arm tone and 6 double beeps. No opportunity to go through mode 1 reset. However, everything appears to work to the point it would fly... Obviously, I'm missing something. Help me Mr. Wizard!! |

I would guess bad Jumper, have seen it happen before.
Try something else to short the two arrow pins. (You can make yourself a new jumper by moving a cable on a jumper cable for Spektrum)

From my perspective, nothing changed from the two hours of unsuccessful attempts I did last night to my success this morning...except the 10 hours in between attempts. Is it at all possible that the ESC was in some sort of programming state which went away due to the many hours between last night and this morning? Might the ESC retain some sort of charge via the capacitors which dissipated and returned it to a state in which it could go into a programming state again? At this point, I just happy to be able to continue with my setup, just asking in case this condition helps another Jive noob. Thank you for all your help. |
