Default Motor for the 7HV

My friend has the 700MX 510 with the ICE160, it is not weak, but he wants a lot more power..
I want to get a new motor for him and trying to decide between the XERA 4530 and the KDE 700XF.
So far the Xera looks better due to lighter weight...

What do you think?

Thanks!

It's a compass part, so any compass dealer. Not sure where you get your parts from but Nankin in the US will be able to help you out if you email them.

Nankin 7HV motor

I've heard good things about Xera motors. Hopefully you can find one.

Well, couldn't find the Xera motor anywhere, there is no sign of life from the owner/support, I also searched for the compass motor and didn't find anywhere in stock..
So finally today I ordered the KDE motor, hopefully the weight will not be an issue..

Thank you people for the help..

Elad.

I am running a Quantum 4530 on mine along with a few of the people I fly with. One of my friends switched over to it from the compass motor and said it is noticeably stronger. I really enjoy mine. Tons of power even at non extreme headspeeds and ballistic with headpeeds around 2100 or so. I recommend this motor to anyone looking for a powerhouse motor for a 700. I am also running the Hobbywing HV120 w/vbar governor. Esc got a little hot with the canopy on so I added a small fan and all is good. Great setup!

the quantum is indeed a better"xera" and very nice at that, has better cooling than xera with pyro type fan. Still some issues with magnets not perfectly positioned but again seems better than xera. I'm running a rewinded one with jive, no problem drawing 220 amp peaks but its yy so easier on esc. Whether stock is stronger than 4525 le, or compass can't say but out does run cool even in rewinded configuration, kv is lower so you need a t bigger pinion than compass motor

To all, Xera 4350 motors are currently in stock. Get them before they're out of stock. I've already placed my order. Happy 4th of July.

There was talk of a new better xera, is this it?, if not have your supplier check magnet spacing, this had been an issue. Btw , quantum 4530 is exact copy inside of xera, but better cooling with pyro fan added, so unless xera is cheaper, quantum would be the better option. Oh yeah I did mention it....

Please give us some little better explaination of this " bad mag spacing " on the Xera motors....I've bought and owned 4 different 4530's from David, serial numbers 4-164' and everyone of them have been stump pulling brutes, and have never skipped a beat...the one that I'm currently running on my 7HV is a monster...stronger than the 4525 ultimate motors for sure, IMO, and as strong if not stronger than the 4530le...i've not run a Quantum, but I can sy that I wouldn't trade my used Xera 4530 for two new Quantums from what I've seen. Not bashing a Quantum in the least, just love the Xera's.....bashing my 7HV around hard today, in 104 heat, running a HeliJive 120..it came down at 142 F...that's pretty cool compared to my Scorpion 4530 that came down at 180F..

Stolla, not sure if it has the new magnet spacing. It will be a big improvement over the currently installed HKIII 4035-560. I really don't except any problems.

Go have a read at rewinding forum under electric motors all there, also if you search through all the links you will see why its impossible for a stock multistrand xera to be as strong as a single wire yy rewinded scorpion 4530 le. You will also under quantum rewind link see how it compares with xera and why its rated as a better xera.

I did'nt notice that you were referring to rewound motors, but I own and fly both the Xera 4530 and the Scorpion 4530, both factory motors, and they are both beasts!

I'm sure that a ported and polished 350cid small block chevy bored .060 over with roller drive train and alumi 262 heads will outperform the stock 350 in grandpa's farm truck as well

It's not hardly fair to compare a stock Xera 4530 to a custom, rewound Quantum...now, a rewound Xera to a rewound Quantum would be interesting!!

Nope I was not referring or comparing to rewound motors, just commenting on your comparison on the 2 motors the magnet spacing problem is a factory qc problem and not exclusive to xera what I was saying is the quantum is an exact copy inside of xera but better in that it has pyro fan added and although not perfect mag spacing seems better from all the units we inspected. I wasn't comparing stock motors with rewound motors, the scorpion 4530 is already a "rewound "motor, sorry for confusing you with the term in context.. If your stock xera is a strong as your le your lipos aren't up to feeding the le properly or it may be a governing issue. I've said all along a weaker well governed motor will always outperform a badly governed strong motor.
To say one motor feels a strong as the other unfortunately doesn't say much either although I haven't driven your grandpas farm truck to comment on that, we drive porches around here, don't know chevy's at all !

I received my 4350-500 yesterday, SN# V2-0165. Not sure if it's the new version Stolla was referring too. I will be on the road for the next two weeks, once I get back it's game time. I look forward to some fun times.

THOSE trucks certainly sound mean Rob! . As for your motor lh, you can open it up and physically measure the distance between magnets, should be within. .1 of a mm.
From all indications the new distributor for xera has promised much improved quality so I'd certainly do a check if I'm you. If you haven't opened motors before you just remove the circlip, then pull it apart, just make sure you replace the little washers in same place, usually one underneath the circlip, another inside under stator.
if its out by more it will still work but at max power it may cause problems for esc. Usually still ok if only one is out of tolerance, trouble starts when a couple are out.
