Default X7 Cable Routing

Have any of you routed the ESC/BEC cables from the front of the heli to the back via the central channel in the frames? I’m concerned about the cables getting snagged on the Gaui/Scorpion motor shaft (XL) as it pokes out the bottom of the lower support bearing. I am running my wires on the outside of the frame and it looks terrible. Currently have mini vbar on the lower gyro tray with the wires coming out the back. This was a mistake as I can't get it neat, thinking of turning it through 180 to better hide the cables. Might do what Matt did, strip out the boom, head main gear, shaft and motor to get the wiring in place.

sounds like what I did too. once the wiring is in, it's buried nice and neat. I put my Miniv there, but turned the other direction like you mentioned.

Mine are down the channel, enclosed in shrink wrap.I don't have the extended shaft but the wires end up being routed to one side or the other to clear the lower main shaft support so I doubt they would be a factor with the shaft.

I'll double check when I get home, I still have it apart from my trip.

Thanks for the pics Rob, they are a great help. Did you plug all the cables into the vbar unit before you taped it to the frame? Is that hot glue on the servo plugs going into the back of the vbar? From the hook and loop tape on the side of the battery bay I take it you dumped the battery frame and are strapping your packs right onto the frame?

What I did is remove one of the side CF plates. 6 screws and it comes right off. That way you can get in and plug it all together, secure the wires, etc, then put the CF plate back on. Hot glue, yes. I'm not using the battery tray things.

I've had to go in a couple of times and change my wiring while trying out BECs, so removing the side CF plate really makes it easy to get in there.

mine run down channel along the side, tubed. But i'm alittle paranoid at times and chopped about 4mm off the long shaft. Sits about flush with the bottom of the bearing.

mini v as in in Rob's pics. Hides everything

I'd do the same, only takes 15 seconds with a cutting wheel.

I've now turned the vbar around and have routed the bec and esc and sat cables via the central channel. As mentioned before they do tend to sit on one side or the other, none come in contact with the motor shaft.

The only down side to this is that I forgot to go back into the vbar setup to set it to upside down with the wires coming out the front Spun the heli up on the grass and it was not behaving. Had a good poke around and found nothing so I spun it up on the paving in the parking lot. It was never going to end well, my Rail 105 tail blades are now 102mm long. There is slightly more play in the tail gearing but not a great deal. I will replace the tail blades and see how I get on before I swap out the gears. Good job I didn't spin up and punch the collective, I would still be picking up pieces of the x7 out of the field.

Yup taken care of that. Took the side frame off and filed a gap for the satellite cables to poke out the side so they don't put pressure on the vbar unit.
