The X5 has caused many a T-Rex 500 / 550 to be sold. It's that good. zthe bad news is supplies have been tight. Empire should have stock in this week (according to JC on 4/26).

As I have been seriously thinking about buying an X5 FES, I too was concerned about parts availability and possible obsoletion.
I was almost going to go for a Trex 550 due to easy spares access. This is one reason I ditched Walkera. As soon as you buy a Walkera it's discontinued in 6 Months and used as a shelf Queen. Anyway, as I didn't want to go through the same fiasco with obsolete parts, I took it upon myself to eMail a few UK vendors and also Gaui themselves. They all told me that the X5 is still in production, wont be discontinued anytime soon, and not to worry. Here is an eMail from Gaui themselves, and eMail replies were the same from all UK vendors. As a result.... GAUI X5 FES, here I come. Here is the response from them..,Message 2/13 Back Logout From: Gaui <gaui@gaui.com.tw> 收件人: Gaui X5 FES Spares query 04.30.12 08:21 PM Go to options Dear Damian, Thanks for your mail. We released the X5FES in about one and half years ago. It is still a ongoing product, we do not plan to stop it. So you don' t need to worry about the availibility of its spare parts. Please can you tell me how old this model is (approx release date) and if you will continue to supply spare parts for it for the foreseeable future? I would prefer to buy another model of Gaui if you plan to obsolete parts/ spares for the Gaui X5 FES soon. As you can probably appreciate, spares are essential to keep an Heli' in use. Considering they still make parts for the G200 (discontinued in favour of the X2). I dont think you will have any problems soon.

It's nice that they look after their customers in this way, rather than releasing model after model every couple of Months. |

The original version came out a long time ago, before my time, they updated it a couple of times though.

Urmm... I can't put it into words but the quality of the kit just vaguely doesn't seem to be up to msh's build quality but let me finish the thing and we'll see. 2nd build ever for me, first build msh so, I guess... lol... I'm spoilt. Let me put it this way, msh is like lego... Put a mini protos together no problems bar trying to figure out how to shoehorn the ESC in. This X5... the head and tail came preassembled... But I wanted a bigger bird than a protos so hopefully this'll be fine as it looks like it probably will judging by what most say. Can't wait to finish it and take it up. I reckon she'll be fine. Perish the thought I'll have to save up again and get a stretch protos.

My X5 has just come together - put its first real 4 flights on it today. I came from a 450 FB Pro.
Anyway - I'm *really* happy with it now it's in the air. Build had a couple of minor build issues. Like the canopy rubbing on the main gear. TT kinda hard to line up nice. But most issues were easily dealt with - and the reality is, they add to the experience for me. Anyway - my 450 is now sold. Bring on good times!

Hey Dave, are you going to be shipping overseas anytime soon? I thought I might get some stuff at your store like the lime green dampers that I can't get here. Thanks.

I didn't think parts were a problem. Dave had everything I needed after my crash in march.

Hi everyone. I just want to tell you that I have seen GAUI factory here in Taiwan (Bali Township) It is as small as 4 stories house. Not company - I have seen factory. So I just want to let you know - GAUI is not that popular (don't get me wrong - I replaced my fleet and went from ALIGN to GAUI birds) they just cannot produce as much as the other companies. When your local hobby shops get the parts in stock, buy as much as you can, because in the future if you need something you won't be able to find it anywhere except in Taiwan.
My lhs owner brought me to see the factory - because he is leaning toward Align's side, and I swear in GAUI. He was saying Align is better, but I disagree. He decided to bring me to see the factory. Even I saw the factory - it doesn't mean that Align helicopters fly better I am just saying GAUI is trying hard and even here in Taiwan I need to wait for the parts, X5 - 3 to 5 days. But for X7 and X2 it's over 2 weeks. When I order something for X2 ( I crash it way too often I tried the other hobby stores which sell parts online. But the story is the same. So X series are awesome, just be prepared to wait for the parts, or to stock pile them GAUI produces only the frame - everything else is made by the other companies - starting from microbeastx - servos - blades - esc. So if you crash and break electronic parts - it's very easy to find and replace them - but if you crash something that GAUI produces it's different story. Emil |

sold out already, what did every dealer get about 3 of these things LOL. Looks like a protos stretch for me. I would rather build the x5 to be honest but out of stock and parts are out of stock. Like I said generally alway's unavailable inventory. GAUI!

Gents, this is the price in Taiwan
http://www.gaui.com.tw/html/shopping_view.asp?sn=1174 I want to help, not to earn anything. As you see - the price is 899$, I have a deal from my LHS and super combo X5 FES (microbeastx) - is 840$. But shipping is expensive, and plus pay pal fee. I don't suggest British to order, because they need to pay VAT, no matter I write it's a gift. (I have sent some blades, and those 3 sets of blades were cheaper than VAT!!!) So if you are interested, I can help you, because I am in Taiwan. Shipping (EMS) is approximately 55 $ - it's expensive, I know but the weight + insurance - when I buy insurance - EMS workers take care of the package as a baby So 840 + 55 US dollars = 895$. There is another expense - pay pal fee - if you transfer the money as a gift - no fee - but you will not be protected, I can send you just a box of rocks, or even send you nothing. So refund/issue costs - but I don't know how much - because pay pal charges me always 4% to 5% , it's not 3% like what they said - or maybe it's their currency converter wrong (read doing it on purpose). so you need to add 44.75 us dollars (pay pal owner is going to smile If I want to earn I would tell you 899 + everything else, but really - the deal that I get from the LHS is 840 US dollars. I help you because you helped me earlier. so the total cost of everything will be approximately 895+44.75 = 939.75 US dollars I have sent one already and with pay pal calculator I saw the fee is 2.9 + 0.30$ so the person paid me 922, so I was in a little minus, but it was fine, he has transferred the rest of the money If you are interested, send me a private message and I can order the super combo - get it in 3 to 5 working days and ship it immediately when i get it. So another 3 to 5 (or 6) working days to your address. But please make sure about the fees in your country (customs fee) - I will mark the package as a gift, but I need to write the right amount so it will be insured. I hope I can help, Emil |
