The pinions are for gearing for the target headspeed nothing to do with power. Power is how the motor keeps the headspeeds in pitch changes and power moves.

From what I've seen of the motor it keeps it's rpm whatever you throw at it and does not heat up so you can use the canopy which is a bonus for me as I'm starting to gather dust as ahclem, and start loose orientations without it!

What timing and PWM for the hobbywing 120 and new motor?? On the box it says 8 khz but I see so many hobbywings going up in flames at 8.

I ran it at 12khz PWM and 18.75 timing. Everything was just a bit warm to touch and no fires.

Ok, I am running this combo @ 2350 with 15T. I don't push it to the limits but I would say I push it harder then the average joe and no over amping problems or anything like that. ESC is not getting hotter then normal either. So you probably wont need higher amp esc

One of the HW positive characteristics is that it just seems to take the pounding and hang in there. It won't power down like Jive might. Of course, that, and 1/3 the price!

12 and 18.75 for me

esc is warm, and motor is below the 60 deg C burn your hand test.

i learned that at work

below 60, you can touch and hold it
above 60, it's gonna hurt.

You kind of have to do the hand test. I have a IR thermometer but they are not very good at getting temps off of reflective surfaces. The highest reading was 130* after a flight when the ambient was close to 90*. I doubt that. It felt hotter.

I have a few flights on mine now at 12KHz and 15*/14T at 2000 gov and it has a lot of power. Not monster power but enough for right now.

anyone try the stock hw governor with the brute yet?

I don't have a tach so i can't confirm this, but, according to the headspeed calc for hobbywing i should use a 81% flat throttle for 1850 headspeed on gov high

but when i spool up, i can tell it's super slow, i have some bad wobbles b/c my heli gives a good shake out wobble when i spool up normally, but i don't think i'm hitting that headspeed.

to confirm, the motor is a 10 pole motor, correct?

It is a 10 pole motor.

Haven't tried the built in gov but have heard it's pretty crap.

Hello, with the engine compass 570kv and the castle 120HV, I can make no more than 1900 tr in set rpm. I configured poles 8, 12T / 136.

This isn't really the thread for it ...

If you want a higher headspeed, you could go for a bigger pinion. 2050 w/ 13T
