Thunder Tiger has a OWB lube they have been selling for years. Don't know what is really in the little flip top plastic container. I do know that I can't find mine
A Main hobbies stocks it or used to.

But let me know the part numbers and I will order those. Thanks.

the parts manual is wrong with some parts i have noticed that part number is a set of thrust bearings the parts i used were

60-15245 and 60-17265 and that cured my clicking but taht was after a crash they was fine before so i think they got damaged then

I changed those bearings and clicking is gone. Thank you very much.

I still have #2 on the bench, I may tear the main gear/pulley down to have a look.

Sorry GG. Not yet. I emailed all of our information concerning design, speeds, and operating modes to the engineer at Molykote. He replied today. He's working on it, and I would hope to hear back soon.

Hey Rob, you ever hear anything back on this? I had emailed Dow about it a while back and got an email they would look into it but I never heard anything back.

Nothing more. I tested the Thunder Tiger plastic gear grease (Molykote 30ML). I really didn't care for it. I went back to Sil Glyde. It's very possible that Molykote will have an alternate suggestion. Hope it's not something that comes in a minimum quantity of $500 worth of product. I think there is a potential to open up the clearance of the pulley on the one way hub.since it's bolted to the lower half of the one way drive. Mine simply hasn't worn. Maybe some lapping compound to wear some clearance in. I have read the Goblin owners using WD40 to be a mild abrasion agent to lap the gear mesh in. This is a possibility. I will need to study the assembly the next time I have it apart to see if there's a more apparent remedy. For now, it's not really significant. Probably near 200 flights now and counting, so who knows.

Default 7HV one-way bearing being sticky

Hello Rob43,

Have noticed that even if I remove the main pulley, and try to rotate the lower end of the auto-rotation sleeve (09-7103 ), while holding stead the main gear, the auto-rotation sleeve remains equally sticky towards the freewheeling direction of rotation.

So, no matter if main pulley is on the auto-rotation sleeve fixed with the two set screws or removed from it, the resistance I detect is the same; honestly, am really wondering how this will autorotate with such frtiction.

Also, did another test and held the main pulley fixed in my hand and attempted to give the main gear some momentum to with my other hand to see how much it can freely rotate and it was not more than 50-70 degrees before the main gear stopped.

Is this normal behavior and I should expect that once the main pulley is "loaded" with belt tension, the whole thing will rotate smoothly?

Thank you very much,
Spiros

When freewheeling during spool down, or autorotation, the pulley is rotating on a now stationary one way hub. I couldn't understand why my one way is so tight. Lots of friction. I had it out many times since the build a year ago. Last summer when I ate three main gears it was out a lot. That is wheyn I disovered if the pulley if removed, the one way assembly is extremely friction free. Put it back on, and it's tight. Maybe, in my case, the pulley is tighter than yours. There is zero clearance in mine. Since noting tight one-way assemblies is very common in the 7HV owners, I assumed it's true for all. I just don't quite understand why this fit needs to be so tight. Upper and lower portions of the drive assembly are carried by roller bearings. The pulley is piloted to it's own hub, p/n 09-7070, which, in turn, is a precision fit to the one way sleeve, it could be that Sebastian thinks he needs this snug fit when freewheeling due to the belt load on the pulley. I don't know for sure. I will say this, unless the clearance of the pulley to the oneway hub has been increased since the first batch, you will find this to be a friction loss in auto rotation. Simple as that.

I don't grease my one way roller either. I think it needs some light oil to help prevent corrosion, and brinelling, but I agree about that.

Spiros

All i've done on both my 7's is take the one way apart, wipe the dirty lube off, re apply tri flow and flown.

Both machines auto down from 10ft to 500ft with no problems at all, this is with some friction as you say.

What type of Triflow should be applied to the one-way bearing? I have got Triflow Clear Synthetic Grease that I use on my thrust bearings. Is this the one or are you talking about a silicone based synthetic oil, rather thin one?

Thank you.

Just the thin oil. The one in the pencil applicator.

"Just the thin oil. The one in the pencil applicator. "

That is what I use on all of my one-way bearings.
