Is it really faster, or just a style thing? Who races helis?

(Not saying I don't like it, just curious.)

I really like the look of it, I cremated my original canopy , so thought it would be a cool replacement, Fast Lad in the UK has them in stock.

Default new canopy

Yeah I'm not a big fan of the look or the idea of less airflow to my already hot motor.

The formula canopy has 2 cooling holes in the front (black region).

Woody !!!! Lol. Always loved red and white schemes and this fits perfect !! Having the red front in the window ( per say ) area makes for great visibility.

That's a high point of this canopy is that it DOES have air vents to keep things cooler under the canopy! I always vent my canopies a little more than stock anyway just to keep things cooler! Sweet, I can't wait to get mine!!!

I got mine too
It is significantly larger than the old one and the 'fold' in the window reminds me of the TDR, I like that. The old canopy just looks silly now

Weights:
Old canopy: 111gr
Formula canopy: 147gr

Here some photo's for comparison:

Can someone post some detailed pictures of the rear of the Formula canopy. I'm interested in how it attaches to the posts, and I would also like to see the posts themselves. Thanks.

My question is "are those true NACA scoops in the front or just holes that look like the NACA scoops.?"

However they are, I agree that there probably needs some more airflow across the ESC and motor.

No they are not true Naca ducts. I had a telemetry temp sensor installed on my yge120hv for live monitoring: In fast ff, the esc temperature would rise(!). In fast backwards flight it would drop.
So opening the holes up a bit more is definitely advisable if you have cooling issues.
