i feel the 130 will come out of the sky a lot harder than the mcpx. the mcpx should be called crash & fly. its some heli just did all the up grades xl boom hub grips swash landing gear with support and frame with out 3rd bering. it flys so nice and sounds so different than stock. all parts came from quantum hobby check out the site you wont be sorry ask for tim.

I wouldn’t mind getting a 130x but I’m going to give it some time. Looking at the photograph for the tail gear all I can think of is the massive back-order / out of stock problems that will exist. I have a torque tube on my 450 Pro which I’ve never had a problem with – but that’s mainly because you can do a mini-auto from four or five feet up when landing – really doubt you’ll be able to do that on the 130x.
Looking at those tiny gears it just seems like they’ll be toast if the tail so much as thinks about touching something upon landing…..hoping I’m wrong. http://www.bladehelis.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=BLH3729

I've seen with my own eyes a friend crash his Blade SR and not break anything. Granted it doesn't have a shaft drive but just an example of a bigger heavier heli crashing. If anyone wants to come to Louisiana I'll bet you lunch if you hit TH it will not break when it hits the ground. I'm sure y'all all hope I'm right but only the guys test flying them know for sure.

Hi,
I just lost today my mcpx v1 (without microheli swash), motor cut at LVC when the heli was quite far. I spend more than 1 hour to try to find it. I had it since mcpx first batch, so more than one year What would you recommand me to do: buy a mcpx v2(is it flying better?) wait for 130x (now I fly better than than when I got the mcpx) buy a ESC for my 450 clone to make it flyable Thanks |

The problem with the 130x is the fact that it isn't going to have open source hardware/brushless code, so it's going to be take it or leave it for stock features. Will it have a governor out of the box?
These heli's are ok when they come off the assembly line, but until they get modded and tweaked by the community, they are only so so. If there is one thing that has been proven, it's that the community as a whole can build the best helicopter, not the manufacture. The problem is the community can't easily build the most important parts like the board, servos, etc, but provided the source code of the main microcontroller, access to gyros, etc, without a doubt, it would be a better heli. A couple guys coding at Blade is no match for an entire community of engineers doing real world testing. Let's just hope Blade uses some of the lessons learned by the community to put into the new stuff. I believe the community is going to want to mod the hell out of this heli, the stock power will probably not do it for a lot of folks, they will be power hungry, so it won't be long before alternate speed controls and different motors are added in. Blade should do us a favor and just post the source code for the speed control right now so we can get started. The 130x is doubling the weight of the mcxp, it's in a completely different class than the mcpx. I don't even see how they even relate to each other. It's like apples to oranges, you can't replace an apple with an orange. I'd also like to see an msrx sized brushless collective pitch heli under 30grams weight built. |

Hopefully by the time this thing hits the market we will all have honed our skills with our MCPX's to the point that we won't need to worry so much about how well the thing will crash, just how well it flies. I can't wait for the release of this heli, but like many others, I will wait for the 2nd or 3rd run to get other pilots feedback and let Horizon iron out any post-production problems. I learned from my UMX GeeBee not to be the first kid on the block to own anything fro Horizon. For what it's worth, I would bet dollars to doughnuts that several aftermarket companies are already in pre-production for several upgrades. Hell, you may even be able to get some things before the heli is even released.

With it's overall user friendliness, toughness, and overall flyability, I think the mCPx will be the go-to transitional bird for some time to come. IMHO it represented almost another dimension from it's predecessors.
I'll probably own a 130x as well, but it will be heavier, and more complex. Proposed axiom: The better it flies, the worse it crashes....or maybe: The heavier it is, the harder it hits.

I think they'd be stupid to quit selling the mcpx without having a comparable size CP heli to replace it beforehand (as mentioned, the 130x is bigger). I'd bet there's a sizeable market for a micro cp and HH would be foolish to discontinue the mcpx because of that.
The only reason why I'd see them doing that for a while is planned obsolescence so that they make more $. That said, am getting a 130x for Christmas!!!!!!!! Since I dont go to open fields often (yet), it is the perfect size to zip about the neighborhood.

The 130 looks cool, but pricing alone seperates it from the Mcpx, plus the crash costs will be more in line with a 450 sized machine. I really don't think it will have any affect on the Mcpx. That said, I'm ready for the V3 Mcpx with stock brushless and extended tail.

As an avid TT hater, you couldn't pay me to own that pile of 130 poo. Every single time you tag the tail that thing will strip. Mark my words.
Now if we could just figure out a way to stretch our little mcpx out a little further. Aw, the gears are churning even now! With eflite the cycle goes more like this. I see the mcpx on the market for at least the next several years. Look how long the B400/ Cx3/ Cx2 stayed in the lineup. Anyone thinking they are going to pull the mcpx out of the market has lost a few marbles, or never had them to start with. |
