Hi!
Got a question about my 450SV: When I connect the LiPo battery, the ESC goes di,di,di...for about 20 seconds!?!? This happens every time I connect the first battery for the day. Next battery, no more than the normal 3+1 beeps... And yes, the transmitter is ON. At first I thougt it colud be the throttlehold-button, but it makes no difference if its on or off. The manual for the ESC does not say anything about these beeps, but I've read somewhere else that continous beeps like this, indicates that the ESC is not recieving the throttle-signal form the TX... When the beeping stops though, everything works great! Best greetigns from NORWAY! Bjorn Einar Andersen |

Yes, mine did the same. First batt just kept on beeping, untill i unplug everything and try again. After a while my esc would just be in IU mode, doesnt matter if the Rx is in normal flight. Took it out and replaced with HobbyWing 40A esc. Since then no problems.

Hi - IU is Idle Up mode. That you set on your Tx for different flight modes. That is to set your throttle curve - normal mode is 0-25-50-75-100. In IU it is a flat curve - something like 100-100-100-100-100 or 100-90-80-90-100. That you use for flying 3D that the motor doesnt slow down when you start to use negative pitch for inverted flight. Hope it helps.

Ahh...right...just me being stupid there for a second...
I just focused on the ESC and could not figure what IU meant from the ESC-manual Thanks anyway for clearing that up! I see you have had the same experience with the beeps, but does anybody know what actually causes this fenomena? |

My KDS 450sv did the same thing. I tried everything to get it to stop. I eventually learned that it was the ESC thinking my throttle was slightly on. I just gave the throttle trim one click down on the TX and that was the last I ever heard of the annoying long winded beeping. Hope it helps you.

My KDS450SV did that but the beep wouldn't stop. Eventually found some of the signal wires had chafed against the frame. It was never the same after I sorted the wiring (intermitten power loss during flight) so i changed the ESC. Right as rain now.
Don't really trust the KDS ESC much. The replacement (Black Mantis 40A) seems a lot more substantial for the same rating. |

It is seeing what it thinks is the throttle in a state above off. You can 1. Drop the throttle seeing using the trim on the radio, or 2. you can pull the blades off *tail included* and recalibrate your throttle endpoints so that it will behave properly. Its a standard procedure on the Castles these days.... Hope this helps.

The trim procedure sounds logical...I will try it and tell you how it went!
Thanx |

Your throttle trim is too high turn it way back it's not needed anyway the throttle speed is controlled by your throttle curve.
