Well, it may pay to monitor Ebay. I just saw an auction end for a ~$30.00 MSR. The only reason I didn't buy it was because the seller said that it had a tail wobble. Unclear whether that would be a motor issue or a 5-in-1. I didn't want to chance it.

Will have a MSR for sale in about a week or so, aircraft only. I bought a brand new airframe (will get it in about a week), am gonna combine with spare 5-1. Am keeping this one, but I have two others.

One is all stock and flies quite well..........PM me if you want it if you havent gotten one by then.

Note my sig, one of the two psychotic ones is no longer psychotic. Is the one I'm thinking about selling. Has one of the stronger glow in the dark frames, but stock otherwise. I can send you a vid of it in flight if you wish.....

LOL. Thanks. However, that sale moved fast.

I had a bead on another 5-in-1. However, when I got it, I have two problems with it.

1) It doesn't seem to go into bind mode at random times. I first got it, plugged it in, and then tried to bind it to my DX6i. The blue LED never flashed. I tried about 10 more times and FINALLY it went into bind mode! I was able to bind it and I flew my MSR with it.

2) Immediately after I put it into bind mode and bind it to my DX6i, the motors arm and I can fly. If I power cycle the helicopter, and try to fly it afterwards, I cannot get the motors to arm at all. Servos work but the motors don't spin. My trims are all at zero and I even tried lowering the throttle trim but the motors refuse to arm. I have to turn off my transmitter, put the helicopter back into binding mode, bind it to my transmitter (again!) and then I can fly.

I'm going to send this one back. Good thing the seller takes exchanges.

When you bind it do you have the throttle all the way down? Do you just hold the bind switch while powering the radio on till the led stops flashing?

Yes and yes. When the LED actually starts flashing, I have no problems with actually binding the TX to the 5-in-1. Binding it when the LED is flashing isn't the problem. It binds the same way as all my other MCX/MCX2/Rescue helis have successfully done. This process works both on my DX6i as well as my RTF controller.

The problem is actually getting the 5-in-1 INTO binding mode as it seems to not want to do that at random times. Then AFTER I've done this whole process and successfully bound it to a TX. On the first flight after doing the binding thing, it works fine (assuming I don't unplug the helicopter first)! But if I unplug the heli, make sure the TX is on, put the battery back into the heli, I can control the servos but the motors just refuse to move no matter if I have zero throttle, centered trims, lowered throttle trim, etc...

The only way to get it to work is to put it back into binding mode, bind it to the TX, and THEN everything works again....UNTIL I change the heli battery and then the motors don't want to spin when I plug a new battery back in!

Where are you binding at?

Where am I binding at?

Not sure what you're asking. Where? My basement and then my living room sometimes. I'm keeping the TX away from my RX by about 2 feet. Is that what you're asking, by any chance?

Anyway, I was able to get a replacement 5-in-1 and that one worked a lot better. I only had to put the heli into binding mode ONCE and bind it to my DX6i. From that point on, I turned on the TX, plugged in the heli, and all was good.

The only bummer is that this 5-in-1 has a little bit of a "sticky" elevator servo. When I give it full back stick, it slows down a little bit at the far end of the travel. The aileron servo is fast and smooth. The heli flies well enough though and I don't notice the slightly slugging servo response when it's actually up in the air. I might take a servo from my old 5-in-1 since those worked just fine and replace it at some point...
