Hi,
I am starting to get the hang of how to set this thing up now, but I am left with one problem I can't work out and hope there is someone out there who might be able to point out what i'm doing wrong???!! Its all to do with setting up the gov on it. Now I have it working, its off in hold, on in normal at 30 per cent, and on all the time in idle one and two. The indications all seem to be showing right on its home screen when switched between hold and idle up's. But the very first part of the instructions tells you to make sure the display is changed to 1, 2, 3 by moving the switch and set the desired rpm at each point. Now when the idle up switch is moved this rpm screen does not change and the number top right of the screen just stays on 3. I just can't work out what i'm doing wrong here, The TX i'm using is a 8fg super and the gyro menu screen on the tx seems to shown it switching between idle ups... I also need to add that I have watched the youtube vids and I have not seen anything that covers this yet. :-( Please help :-( Dave |

When I checked the 750 unit, there is an sbus channel for rpm, which was set for ch7, I changed this to ch8 the same as the gov? In the tx SBus there is not one marked RPM so what should be set??
It then changes the rpm numbers when you move the idle up switch, but the number 3 does not change top right?? And when you set the RPM for the different idle ups, when you switch through them the numbers change. Do you have to do anything with the thr curves to stop this? Now when you switch thr hold, the number top right which stays a 3 through all the idle ups changes to a 2 and the rpm changes to 1800 which is not something I have set and as far as I could tell if the gov was off in the hold condition.... :-( |

I think that 1,2,3 is for when you are not using the governor menu to control the head speed. That's if you using end points I think. If its working and the RPM number is changing and head speed is correct I wouldn't worry to much about the 1,2,3

I have set in the tx,
normal 1900 rpm Idle 1 2050 rpm Idle 2 2150 rpm And when you set the unit the same, as soon as you flick through the idle ups on the switch, the number in the box on the top right hand stays 3 and it changes the rpm on the unit to, Normal 2015 rpm Idle 1 2096 rpm Idle 2 2150 rpm Why is it doing this and whats going on? Also when you flick the hold switch the number changes from 3 to 2 in the top right hand side of the unit and the rpm changes to 1800 but this should be gov off. on the home screen of the unit it showns the gov on and off at all the correct times. I just can't work it out :-( |

What's radio are you using? If its a 8FG try resetting the s-bus menu and try that.

Go to the end of the s-bus basic menu and reset is the last option in that menu

Firstly, I see no need to use the gov switch if using an 8FG so disable the gov switch. Set your Tx so that gov set RPM is high, say 2500. Now display the RPM on the CGY750. If it doesn't read 2500, press + or - until it does. You should now find that whatever you set on the Tx is displayed on the CGY750.
Don't worry about the 1,2,3 as that really doesn't mean much. Just worry about the RPM display. Steve

I must be missing something as it does not match whats on the TX, if you adjust the setting to be the same, flick through the idle up's it then changes slightly and I can't work out why!!
Update on progress or rather lack of it!! I tried to fly it today for the first time using the gov. It did nothing but seemed to be working as in it held a head speed, It was just very low, about the speed that was on when the gov switched over at 30 per cent thro movement, Tried the idle up's and it was just the same, held it at the same very low head speed that was not even enough the lift off with... Really could do with someone holding my hand with its set up as everyone else fly's either beast x or v bar so no one I fly with can help :-( |

I have seen the same thing. I set the RPMs for N, IU1, IU2, to off, 1900, 2100. Then when I flip through the IUs the settings change slightly, 1915, 2150.? I just got it to what I considered close enough and moved on. Since someone else is seeing it I am going to go back into it and try to figure out what the heck is going on. It must be something somewhere.
As far as the HS being way to low, did you double check the gear ratio setting and the magnetic sensor response? Did you set the high and low throttle limits? If the high limit for the governor is low that could prevent it from increasing the throttle to get the RPM and if it is reversed it would be trying to drive the throttle the wrong way. You do have one magnet reverse polarity of the other? That would cut your RPM in half right there. Can you get someone to tach it so we can see exactly what the error is? |

Right, intersting goings on, I will just run through what I did and how I did it..
I took notes as I was looking at it and this is what what put... All very confusing..!! In normal condition and mode 1000-3500rpm, taking the rate down on the tx, at 1395 the rpm reading on the 750 is 1908 and the number in the box top right is 1, you take it up to 1400 the 750 now reads 1920 and the number top right changes to 2, take it down to 1000 and the 750 now reads 1000. Take it back up to 1500 and the readout on the 750 stops at 2150. ( which is what I had set it to in idle2 first.) I then took the tx setting upto 3000 and set the 750 to 3000, going back down on the tx and the numbers on the 750 fall but not at the same rate as the tx. At 1920 on the tx the rpm on the unit is 2388 rpm and the number in the box top right is now 3. All the way back down to 1000 on the tx the numbers are not the same but meet back at 1000 hmmmm.!! I take it back up to 1500 and then adjust the rpm on the unit to 1500 and guess what, the unit now reads just the same as the tx, full range!! One interesting thing to note is starting at 1000 on the tx, the 750 now reading just the same, going up the number top right is 1, it changes to 2 at 1400 and changes to 3 at 1710. I now then set in the TX normal to 1750, idle 1 to 1950 and idle 2 to 2150. And the unit reads just the same :-). I shut it down, both unit and tx, restarted them both and unit now reads as per settings set on tx for flight condition normal, idle 1 and idle 2 all with a small number 3 in the box top right! The gov is now working as it should, looking at page 87 and the governor speed setting its a bit confusing as it talks about points 1 2 and 3 and the transmitter EPA can be changed from 20 to 100 percent, What is the transmitter EPA function? |

I figured out what was happening in my case. For the Gov on TX I am using a three position switch to trigger the 1, 2 and 3 settings in the 750. If the switch is set for 0, 50, 100 and I set the RPM on the 750 it will remain the same for settings 1, 2, and 3. If I change the settings for the switch I am able to adjust the RPM settings. In other words, I set the RPM for 1, 2, and 3 on the 750. Once set I am able to do slight adjustments on the TX.
If you have an RPM setting on your TX you are probably doing a variation of this. |
