Default Quark and th?

Just set up my Quark in my Trex 450 SE V2.
All I can say is WOW! Much better than the
gy48v I was using lol.
My question is, when I hit throttle hold to land
the heli will rotate counterclockwise about 4 inches
(It did this with the gy48v also). I was wondering what
would happen if I cranked up the gain for just th mode.
I am using an Airtronics RDS8000 and have the gain
set at 49 (just below tail wag) in all modes.
It is to windy to try to fly right now so just killing time.
So is raising the gain a good idea or should I just deal
With the tail when I hit th?

I always turn up the gain till I get tail wag and then back it down just enough to stop the wag.
when you hit th the lose of power in the rotor so quickly is why the tail kicks a little

Thanks for the reply Satgod, I agree with everything
you said. Was just wondering if increasing the gain
In just th mode would stop it from rotating when th was
First turned on.

you can add a little rubber mix with the th in your radio settings or you can set the gyro gain to increase via the th switch also

but how to do it depends on your radio and thats something that I would have to be in front of to do

Thanks again Satgod, I never thought of using
rudder mix. Might just give it a try in th mode.

TH doesnt cause any rotation on my heli's. Are you sure the brake isnt on or there isnt excessive drag someplace?

Yea no brake on and no drag. On spool down the
blades will rotate without power for several seconds.

I'd be careful about adding any rudder mixing via TH.

The reason is that if you are in TH when you plug in the battery, I believe the Quark will learn that offset as the new rudder center. Now when you flick out, the quark thinks your rudder midstick is actually not zero rudder.

I'm not saying it can't work, but there may be unintended consequences!

I wonder if your OWB is slightly sticky. When you hit throttle hold, if it doesn't release right away, the motor may be braking the rotors a bit, and that gives you the CCW kick.

It may also be that your tail servo can't move fast enough to counteract the fast TH turnoff.

Just guessing now!

Ahahn you bring up a very good point about the Quark not
seeing the center position while in flight if I plug in the
battery with th on (which I do). I Will check my OWB. Thanks

Rudder mixing with HH gyros is not good. Spartan specifically mentions to inhibit
any rudder mixes. This also goes for trim and subtrim. All should be zero.

Something is causing the tail servo to twitch when TH is hit. A heli produces no torque
when the main rotor power is cut, therefore there should not be a kick.

Again thanks for all of the help! I just checked the OWB, cleaned it and put some Tryflow on it. Seems to turn very free.
I have a Futaba s9257 on the tail so that should be fast enough.
Going to wait awhile for the Locktight to set and give it a try.
