Default Very early LVC!

My mSR X's LVC is kicking in way too early.

Anyone experienced this and fixed it without replacing the board?

Thanks.

Pete

More than likely it's your motor.

Yep. Qualify your batteries as good somehow, then its in to the main motor. Puta couple drops of oil in it in the holes at the shaft end, see if it gets better. If you FYI normally lube your motor then try a new one. Every time I think my motor is taking a crap I lube it and all is well. Gl.

Check your antenna. May be a loss of signal flash and not a LVC flash. If your antenna breaks off the symptoms look exactly like a LVC.

The good news is if that's your problem it can be easily soldered back on or replaced.

Batteries are good, antenna is good, I have lubed the motor and still the same.

I fly for about 1:30 and then LVC cuts in, I then unplug and replug the battery and it flies for about 20 seconds, I can unplug and replug til the battery is depleted.

I will grab a new motor and see if that fixes it. This is the original motor and I have had a lot of flying so will be happy if that is the problem, still flies strongly on this motor though. Just ordered one from my LHS.

And the temps have been generally pretty low, minus six when I rode my pushbike to work last Friday, got a frosted mouth and still paying for it.

Went to the NSW State F3C champs Saturday though and although there was a frost early it was beautiful flying weather once the sun came out.

Thanks for all the responses guys.

If you are flying in the cold - that could be the problem

It's well known that lipo's sag in the cold, the smaller the pack - the greater the problem

I do remember reading about someone who was adamant that the msrx main board was susceptible to cold too

Try it indoors and see how it goes
if you are flying indoors then ignore me!

You may want to look for a fraying battery lead or bad battery connector

Even flying in the house it does the same thing, flew outside this afternoon and it was quite comfortable at around 13 degrees C.

New motor and still the same, looks like it is the board.

Contact Horizon by phone and see what they say. If that doesn't work send them an email.

petedee, which batteries are you using and how many you have? I had the exact same problem, 2 minutes flying then LVC, and I thought it was the motor so I installed a new one... didn't solve the problem. I was using 5 eflite batteries that charged fine to 4.2 volts as per my Turnigy Accucell charger... When I received my new Turnigy nano-tech batteries from HK... problem solved. It turns out IMO that this bird needs a high voltage and discharge rates... now I'm flying for 3:30 minutes by timer with my 10 new cells (it flies up to 4:30 but I don't want to abuse them), the difference is noticeable. So, I would double check first, to be sure... the condition of your batteries.

Using Nanotechs and Hyperions, both types are doing the same thing.

I am going to make a harness so I can test the batteries like I do with my multicell packs, see if that can tell me what is going on.

Thing is though that if I disconnect the pack and then reconnect it flies fine for 15-20 seconds, still might be the packs though, as you say the mSR X does hammer the packs.

Going to an indoor flying session tonight so planning on doing some testing with one of the guys, might also go and buy a new pack to test with.

Have made the harness and some of the cells look fine so I am not sure.

Going to cycle some and see if that improves them.

Anyone like to suggest a good discharge rate for this?

The only thing other than the board is the tail motor, best way of testing that is unplug tail motor then run it up and see how long it runs for, the tail should only take, a small amount of the power, the other is the main power cable from battery to board, you seem t have covered the other causes. Hope you can fix it.

Yes I hope I can fix it too, the board is $80 because it only comes with the two servos, probably not buy a board though and just have short flights.
