Default Walkera V120D02 v2 & V120D02s

Can anyone explain the difference between these two and / or show me a web link that does?

I just ordered one; I will not have it until Monday.

But I think the only difference is a new RX that has telemetry, a six-axis gyro, and is update-able... via the USB dongle.

Also, it has a green canopy that says "NEW"

The new V120D02S appear to be firmly targeted at beginners. It has a self-righting tendency whether upright or inverted. It seems to be much more stable than the old V120D02S. However, experienced fliers may not like its stability.

Inner,

Are you asking about the older V120D02 V2 vs the V120D02s

Or

are you asking about the V120D02s vs the 02s V2?

(I think there was a V2 to the original V120D02 before the 02s came out.)

I answered about the 02s vs 02s V2, which I just got a couple of weeks ago.

the only difference is the new RX, which is stronger (it has a second piece of pcb mounted to the bottom as a reinforcement) and it has the new 6-axis gyro, which is working pretty good for me so far.

It is definitely noticeably more stable than my original 02s.

Yeah I have the D02s now, looking at he green version. Read up on it and it looks like the tail gear might have some improvement too. I will look at getting one in August I think.

As Vronny said,

The tail gear is the same.

The adds all say that the tail drive shaft is now metal in lieu of CF, but every 02s I have ever seen has a metal drive shaft.?.?.?.?

Only the RX is different..... and the canopy says "NEW"

Vronny,
Do you also have a V2?

I have noticed that it does not fly well with any +Exp. With +20 (which is what I have my D/R set to on Position 1 for my 02s) it would fail to respond for a moment and then suddenly jerk one way or the other. A tail in backflip attempt resulted in a nose vertical pitch freeze with the heli coming right at me blades first very quickly.

It flew much better on Position 2 which I had set to expo linear and after I turned the gyro down to almost nothing.

After reading Zadaw's post in the other thread about "center stick" it all makes sense.

I am dying to get out and try it with a negative Expo and a bit more gyro, but the weather has been either way too windy or about 100 degrees here for the last few days.

I checked the V2 manual and it does not say anything about EXPO in the set-up recommendations.

Yes I have V2 & V1 I like how the V1 flies to me better than V2. I'm not really liking the 6 axis rx I would rather have 3 axis. I was thinking about getting the new V450D01V2 6 axis but I don't think so if it flies like V2 D02S to self correcting for me. I at least act like I'm flying the heli instead of it stabilizing on a banked turn an level off at the wrong time. Probably end up with 300X after get it together. I will wait till come out with a V2 or at least fix there problems an have a supply of parts an upgrades.

Vronny,
Are you using any positive expo? I had problems with positive expo.

Have you tried linear or negative expo?

According to Zadaw's post, the self leveling only engages when the stick is near center. Theoretically, if you use negative expo the "near center" would get smaller and smaller.

Due to the weather, I havent gotten to really experiment with it myself yet.

I try linear expo but I usually use neg. Postive slows it down neg speeds it up. My tail was too slow so I added neg rud.

I have changed a tail drive shaft and maybe the new one is different some how. Also they could be using a harder plastic. Spoke to Walkera HS and there are some changes. Since I pretty much have to get a different heli anyways because mine has been repaired too many times I might as well try it. Then if I hate the gyro I can swap out for the old one.

I will keep experimenting with different expo settings and gyro settings and report back.

I will try to find a combination of settings that most closely mimics the standard 02s as a baseline.

Vronny,
I am talking strictly about the elv and alieron expos. According to zadaws post, the self leveling is only active when the stick is centered and shuts off as soon as you move off center.... How much off center does it take???Who knows?

Theoretically, the more negative expo on the elev and alieron the faster the self leveling should shut off, and it act like the standard 02s gyro....theoretically.

That member said that the correction is active right up to the middle stick rather than just the center. I can see this causing annoyance for experienced scale fliers as well.

Well, I started at -10 and ended up at -55 on both elev and alieron, gyro at 9pm (when 7pm is totally off.)

Only hovering in my dining room, it is definitely much more like the standard 02s, but still not exactly.

Not sure how this will translate to flips and rolls and such.... dining room.
