In the main forums, some bloke posted about cheap YGE ESC clones....
Found they may make something as well that might interest the B450 community: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ontroller.html If it approaches the quality of a real YGE, it might be something to consider but I don't know. I've decided to get one and find out. Under 30 bucks for umm... stated more amperage and possibly a better BEC with a governor. Might be great. Might melt your B450!!! Those that want to try just be warned!

I have both. I have both "YGE" that "YEP" both 80amp.
I can confirm that the firmware is identical. also the flight behavior is identical. The "GOV.STORE" has the same characteristics in flight. The hardware of the "YEP" is very different, but better. The "YEP" has a circuit of "BEC" biggest (6Amp), the MOSFET which drives the coil is 10 amp max. mosfet amps are the greatest, even if they have a lower resistance than those mounted nell'YGE. The "YEP" unfortunately it is very heavy and cumbersome. Note that in reality it is a "ICE V 2.2". pcb look at the bottom right |

I think it just uses an older firmware. I know the HK programming card works great with the YEP...least it did on my heli.
sent from my phone using circus midgets

I have also run the YEP 45A in both 3S and 6S configurations for a little over a month or so, with both Scorpion -6 and Scorpion 2010, both at 3400HS Governed. Haven't had any problems whatsoever. Only grips is the actual width of the ESC (Had to fit it under the frame between the skids), its weight, and 5.5V BEC output. You can get it threw the front of the frame, but it either wont go all the way in, or you need to cock it 45deg because it is so wide. Other than that, you cant complain for an ESC with better GOV than Castle, and significantly less than the actual YGE unit.

Had a heavy tail servo hanging off the port, so this seems to work

I recently put one of these hk yep45a escs on my 450x. I managed to squeeze into the 450x frames (like the stock one) with the heatsink pointed downward (like it should btw). Used a bit of double-sided tape and a nytie, like the stock esc installation.
This esc rocks, esp. if you want to run in gov'd mode imho! Depends on your Tx, but I run my DX7 on ~82% flatline for 3000hs gov'd and with +/-12deg col pitch it is unboggable. The best settings (using the prog card) for the 440h motor I've found are; From prog card page #1; Timing = 18 deg Brake = off Cuttoff type = slow down (should already be default anyway) Type = lipo (don't worry about the rest, it will auto sense 2-3s packs and use a 3.1v cuttoff) Special Functions; Set stop and full speed (Tx 0-100% throttle) as per the card's manual Page #2; Act Free Wheel/Gov mod; Freew = on, Gov = store P-gain = 0.7 I-gain = 0.03 Startup speed = Heli middle PWM freq = 8kHz Startup power = 8% This esc puts out 5.5v ubec so I suggest that anyone who is still using the stock ds76t tail servo should maybe use a stepdown diode like the Align 5.1v one (which actually drops the voltage ~0.7v). As long as you lower your tail gains a bit this might not be necessary. Just check the tail servo temps after ~ 3 min and make sure it is still just warm. Anyway, hope this helps some who might want to try this esc. Cheers, TomC
