hi guys, i put a genius cp motor in my mini,
it has a bit of power and can fly, i havnt tested the times etc, ( im still using my stock mini cp main gear though ) but it gets VERY hot and starts to burn my canopy, is that normal? its a lot quieter than the stock mini cp motor, and ive taken it out for the time being, could it be because im using the stock mini maingear? i see it a PITA to change the main gear and motor whenever i wanna try it etc. i will go brushless eventually but i love it how it is and just wanna try and get more flight time instead of the 1:30 im getting with my 240mah and around 2 mins with my 350mah regards |

It will run hotter, there is not much you can do to get around that.
Instead of using the genius motor, I used an mCPX motor in my Mini and although it got a bit hot, it wasn't as hot as the genius motor got and it seemed to have more power and longer flight times as well. If you don't already have an mCPX motor to try though, it's not worth it, in my opinion. If you are planning to upgrading to BL, you are probably better off just biting the bullet and doing it because you are likely going to have to re-set up the bird each time anyway. |

Yea true. Its ok with the genius motor. Jus flite times arnt that more longer imo. It gets hot quick and bogs a lot! Just dont want to fork out 50 quid or so for a brushless kit. I got a load of nano tech batterys but a two min flite each time is annoying. Also I got me twister cpx back in the air so enjoying that too atm.
That has around 8 mins fly time Sent from my E10i using Tapatalk 2 |

I found that with the stock motors the walkera 1S 240MAH 25C work well on both genius and mini cp. It has good balance of power and weight.
The little motors i think once they are over pitch they burn and loose power! I just replaced both my motors as it seemed the loose power after 30 seconds. I reduce the pitch a bit now |

Your running way to much pitch which is probally causing low flight times and hot genius motor . 70 percent is more than enough with a brushed motor . If it bogs go less .

what pitch do people use on the brushless motors? also i hear mcpx blades are good on there.
im currently using 65* pitch travel atm but when my brushless kit arrives can i increase it? i know that if i put it to 110 i will get a boom strike lol. hows 80? or even 85? what you guys think? |

Hey guys, as mentioned in the other thread, I'm about to purchase a Mini CP. I've been reading up a fair bit on it, and was just wondering how the Genius motor (and possibly main gear?) provide longer flight times? I have fairly limited technical knowledge/know-how, so I apologize if this is a silly question. :p
Another poster mentioned the mCPX motor as well, does that slot right in? I have a spare mCPX motor lying around that is near-new. I probably won't tinker with the heli right away, but it'd be nice to know what nifty lil' things can be done.

The biggest problem with the stock motor is longevity.
I was only getting 15-20 flights out of a motor before it would burn out. After the third burnout, I just went BL. Dreams, as far as max pitch; just use your ears. You can hear when it is grabbing the air well or when it is bogging. And, it is a balance that you need to tune as too much pitch will slow your rotor and hurt your rate of climb. |
