Hi, Just wanted to know if the Stretch Mini and the 500 fly much different. I have a Stretch Mini Protos is it worth buying a Protos 500 ?
![]() My other Heli is a Logo 600SE. I have a Logo 500SE I need to build yet. Thanks for your help. |

Well, you can never have too man helis...BUT, if you're trying to be practical then no, I wouldnt bother with the 500 if you have a stretched miniP already

The P500 is way more powerful, but less agile.
Also flies much bigger and is much easier to see.

I can fly gently(1) with my Protos with 2600mAh battery for 8-9 minutes. On the other hand slightly harder(2) and to push battery to its capacity after only 3 - 3:30. At each occasion to return around 1800-1900mAh to the battery. (1) - circuits, pirouettes, piro-circuits, gentle funnels all upright or inverted and all with around 2000 RPM head speed. (2) - elevator and even better aileron tic/tocs and full collective rainbows and similar - all at around 2900RPM head speed. Now when I think about it - it is similar to 2200mAh 3S on my MT... Actually - I think it is slightly more compressed with Mini Titan: 4-4:30 of hard flying with slightly over 3000RPM HS vs 7-8min on 2200RPM of gentle flying. |

I fly a stretch 500 on 3300s, and get 6min while putting back ~66%. I am just light sport flying @ 2600rpm while trying to dial in my machine and test the tail.
Another Prôtos owner here flies the plastic on 2600s, I believe, and he easily gets 8 min. I'm not sure of his HS, but I think it's lower than mine. Sent from my Tapatalk using iPhone.

I have a stretch mini and as soon as I get the brain and make sure I like how it flies I am building a (streched) 500 as well. Love the design of these helis
Now we just need MSH to make a 550, i dont really want a 12S setup just now...

If you are looking for a bigger help yes it is worth it.the stretch mini is still only 70% of the p 500. I have both and love em. after flying my mini stretch for about 2 weeks every day and ignoring my 500 i flew my 500 and almost scared me! A lot more power then the mini. Good pair to have. And no it does not eat lips. 6 min ave. And mine is stretched also

On brand new 6s lipos I was getting 7 minutes with my packs coming down around 85F or so. Using a 14t pinion, governor off and idle up goes from 60% to 80%.
I still have lots of power and its my most agile heli, only bogs a little on climbouts. If you run a conservative head speed you can run the belt a bit looser and that will give great flight times. Also using 2650 or even 2800mah 6s packs will add 30 seconds to a minute.

Don't mean to thread hijack but quick question... Whats the average crash cost dif and parts broken in a crash between a p450 stretched and a p500 stretched(not counting electronics)? Gonna get a 450/500 and have one (or both) be a nice beater heli and wanna know if there is a significant diff or not.

The heavier the heli, the bigger the hole in the ground and your pocket after a crash...
