Default idleup and bad right roll

Flew my 450x today for the first time, but this was almost catastrophic. First, running stock 450x blades and edge tail blades. I Lifted off into a very smooth hover, hands off to check for drift and it was dead still no drift at all. I then flew around to check the rudder and cyclic response and all was good there also. At that point I decided to check the tail gain so I flipped into idle up 1 and the heli quickly rolled over on it's right side. That really got my attention, so i quickly added left cyclic and flipped out of idle up mode and the heli was very stable and controllable again. This is my first electric flybarless heli. Any ideas guys on what to check here?

Also, when I got home I wanted to checked the throttle hold switch for motor cut and when I turned the hold switch "on" the blades started to spool up slowly why? This should cut motor power correct?

My throttle hold setting in my X9503 is at 0%. How should I setup throttle hold? Must I give a - % value in hold instead of 0% to stop the motor when throttle hold is on?

This is the standard BeastX reaction when it gets too much vibration. Put the factory tail blades back on and check it. If the problem goes away, it means you have a set of mis-balanced tail blades. I had the same thing happen with a pair of aftermarket tail blades. If it's not the tail blades then it's time to go on a vibration hunt around the helicopter. The reason it's happening in IU and not in "normal" is probably because the vibration isn't severe enough to manifest at lower head speed, and once you kick the speed up, it pushes the vibration beyond what the BeastX can handle.

There was at least one other post on here where someone had the same exact problem with the edge tail blades. They may be out of balance.

Thirded, swap back to the stock tail blades, see if the problem goes away. And definitely balance your tail blades as well as your mains.

Far as the slow spool-up, I really have no idea on the JR radios.
As far as the DX6i goes, the reason the manual says to set 10% on throttle hold is because low-stick is actually sending 10%... it has an upward offset, while TH can send an ACTUAL 0%, so if the heli ever sees TH on (giving a real 0%) then switched off (jumping to 10%, at the bottom of the collective stick) it may start to spool up as it resets its 0% mark to the lowest value it's seen.
But if the cases were similar, it'd stop spooling with TH on, and start as soon as you switched it off TH.

Same issue for me, too. The Blades look sharp but it's the closest I've come to crashing my 450x in nearly 150 flights as it put the tail blades into the dirt a little just at liftoff. Any amount of aggressive positive pitch and it rolled right bad. Put the 59.6mm KBDD blades back on and it was good as new again. Haven't messed with the tail blades since other than to pull and check that they're not elongating every 15 flights or so.

Do y'all measure tail blade balance with a scale, because tail blades wouldn't fit on my blade balancer so I've always just checked they weigh the same

That's all I ever do for tail blades, hasn't failed me yet, but I have only been in the hobby for 6 months or so.

Edge tail blade problem here at one point. Ran up the heli with only the tail blades on....Serious vibration. They seem to have a really bad balance out of the box.

You can use a toothpick, drill bit, CF rod of the appropriate OD and "seesaw" them on 2 drinking glasses......

Then they're balance from the bolt holes to the tip....

Then use a fine scale to make them of equal weight.

FWIW

In regards to the above started thread. I'm happy to report, problem solved with the bad right roll when going into IU mode.

This is what I did, I put a set of "Blade" carbon fiber tail blades on period. I did not balance them, just put them on and smooth as glass @ 3100 rpm . 4 point tic- tocs off the deck crazy. Power on the stock motor awesome!! Love this little guy. BeastX set to "transmitter" and all settings in parameter menu at default. ATV'S 100% Duel Rates 100% Expo on tail 30%, cyclics set to 20%. This baby flips and rolls like a bat out of hell!!

My money's still on badly-balanced EDGE tails, and the official ones just being balanced well out of the box. Glad to hear it's sorted though!

+1. Glad to hear the stock CF blades are working for you. I've chocked my experience up as a lesson learned on not breaking something that doesn't need fixed as my tail authority is great with the KBDD blades and they are very visible. Unless I start having a problem with the holes being elongated like some have reported or other issues I'm likely to leave them alone.
