Default Maybe resurrect the 400??

Ok I am over having the blade 400 implode itself on spool up. Learned my lesson, no used helis unless I see them fly! Also tear everything down and rebuild.

No one locally wants the parts so either it hits the garbage or I get it in flying shape.

I would go flybarless. Zyx gyro. I would keep the original swashplate, it may need new balls, worst case scenario a new swashplate.

So I need a new tail rotor shaft, tail boom, probably should get a new belt just to be sure, new main gear, flybarless head (likely tarot).

That stuff is easy.

The parts I am unsure is the esc and servos. Are there reasonable hobby king servos or what is suggested. how about a good esc with good built in bec?

For how much it will fly, backup/spare with no 3d, analog servos for the cyclic will be adequate. Maybe I should upgrade the servos in the blade 450x and use those on the 400?

Please let me know your thoughts. This will be on a bit of a budget so no crazy expensive stuff please.

I just did a spreadsheet and the cost is at 225 without esc, motor ,servos, bearings, shipping, duty.

Arrgghh maybe just get another 450x or align 450 flybarless.

I was unable to find those servos, but there were some others ranging from $4-$8 to the hitec for $20 ish.

I run T-Pro MG90s metal gear servos in my 400. They are super cheap too. I wouldn't put one on the tail though, just the head. I spent about 29 bucks on an Align servo for the tail at the hobby shop and I'm very glad I did. I have a lot better tail hold because of it. I'm running a GY520 gyro and flybar, can't help you on the flybar part.

Here's a link to those servos, hobbypartz also has them.

Yeah, in the long run building a decent upgraded B400 isn't going to be cheap. But consider the new helis. So far I am unimpressed with their servos either. So for me it would double the cost. And they wouldn't fly any better than what I already have! Plus you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself, and improving things as you go. Win Win all the way.

Has anyone fitted the flybarless 450x head and swashplate to the 400?

This would maximize similar parts.

If you mean the 450 FBL upgrade kit the head is too expensive and from what Ive read the swash is junk, gets slop too easy.
Tarot and stock swash will do the deed just fine. You can buy two Tarot heads for the price of the 450X upgrade head/swash..then you have crash parts.

I see no benefit in using the stock 450X swash in place of the B400..not really needed.

Wish this thread was around last week. I just made an HK order last week, and didn't know about the Typhoon motor as a replacement. Don't want to pay for new shipping.

I see good ratings coming from those motors but have never actually had my hands on one. I just wonder if the cans are balanced decently? I have seen hordes of align cans that come out that arent even round! They vibrate the heli in half. Lollz.

So I ordered the Tarot Head. Can anyone recommend blades for going FBL on the 400?

From everything I've read, there's no difference in blades. Stick to some low cost CF and it'll be fine. B
