Default Just a quick question prior the maiden.

Howdy gents

The heli I'm trying to set up is a Compass 7hv with Align servos and horns.

For me to achieve 10 deg cyclic my values are at 60 which is default and servo travel had to be increased to 130+ & - for the align servo horns. These are slightly shorter than the ones recommend in the Compass manual.

When setting the cyclic up your are required to set the blades down the boom, then skookum tells the blades go to the right to achieve 10 deg. This is where the problem lies, when I measure the left cyclic after the setup the pitch reads 5 deg...

Is this one of those on the bench results because it's not in the air?

Other than that I should be fine.

cheers

Is your swash level?
And are you saying your right aileron is 10deg and left is only 5?
Does the swash tilt a similar amount either side? Do you have any collective when your doing this?

Hey!

I just fired everything up again and without the USB and left read 10 right reads 9. Go figure so I'm 1 degree out not 5 weird.

Yep as per vbar & other FBL I checked at 0 pitch, swash is also level. Might have to check the swash is 100% level..

Are there any differences when reading max +ve/-ve pitch?

If you do then you need to check you mechanical setup..

Update.

Ok so I have carefully leveled the swash resulting in even throws yeah!

On the swash tab my aileron and elevator values are at 64, on the limit. Collective is at 54. Servo travel is at 130 on all three.

Are the values for the swash ok? The pop-up wizard says to keep below 60 but when you hover the cursor over the value it says try to keep the numbers below 65.

Any suggestion are greatly appreciated.

Cheers

You should be fine unless you are going for all out precision 3d smack. The 60/60/60 is a guide so that the cyclic mixing will not be overly distorted at full throws.

Cool. What should I do to lower the number, longer servo horns?

=] my starting point on any SK setup is to drop the default servo travels from 125% to 100% for a 1 to 1 stick feel,

then use the 60/60% swash mix to determine the servo ball distance, a gyro gain of around 45% will give a locked in, on rails heli!...

Hi Gm

Will try this now and see what numbers I get. I was thinking of just increasing the servo travel from (130) to 140?

=] hi, 140% servo travel is going the wrong way! I can't remember the servo length you need, 18 mm comes to mind?

Hi GM

The 7hv recommends 17.5mm mine are 16.3mm (Align DS610)

hope this helps.

Ok, I lowered the servo travel to 110.0mm, as a result the swash numbers had to be increased over 65.

I increased the the servo travel to 140.0mm, as a result the swash values are down to 60.

No sign of binding so I guess I'll stick with that unless someone has any other tips to share.

On to the tail setup with the 7 hv...

1. Servo is at centred link at 90 deg, Hit centre servo.
2. Mechanically adjusted the push rod so that tail blades have have 0 degree pitch.
3. Slide left to achieve 16.3mm, hit left =93 on the value tab.
4. Slide right to achieve 4.5mm. Hit right = 51 on the value tabe which is now highlighted yellow.

How is possible to achieve similar numbers for left and right? I know with the vbar the values needed to be ideal.

HELP!

=] same as for the cyclics, we are setting up the SK controller here, the heli manufacturers recommended settings take back seat.

Heathy, where are ya??!

Not sure what you mean by that GM, sorry.

I kept playing with the settings and always come to the same numbers. Maybe because the horn is 1.2mm shorter than specified.

I noticed that when turning on the electronics without the PC the servo does not initialize in the centre as per the setup. Is that normal?

Ahh ok, so on spool up you get a little tail pitch to counter the torque! Right so then I'm set for the maiden.

Cheers GM & others.
