Was wondering if I could get some feedback on this set up?

I was looking at that also. I think it's pretty much useless though because you still won't have tail control to do auto-rotations. I noticed that they have two setups to use it on different shaft and also to work with the older shafts. Wait I see now that you can also use that without a oneway bearing. Interesting!

As you know, the popular belief is that the main gear is designed to slip down the shaft in the event of a crash to avoid damage to itself and other parts of the heli if it crashes with the motor running. I have always been sceptical of this as I believe that there is no evidence for it but I am prepared to put up with pushing the gear back up again when necessary in case it is true.
I have seen reference to people putting a screw through the stock main gear to hold it in place and they report that it causes no problems. Checking that the gear has not slipped down is part of my pre-flight checks for every flight and pushing it back up only takes a few seconds. The fact that the gear linked to is made of Delrin may be more a of a problem than it being fixed to the shaft as I remember bad feedback about the Xtreme Delrin main gear but I too would be interested to hear any feedback on replacement main gears. |

I'd still like to know if there is any advantage between the CNC main gear and the injection molded one.

"In theory" the CNC gear should have tighter tolerences the a moulded one. Somebody would have to measure each one.
