I've read a lot in the mcpx forums of success in getting a solid tail by using the sr120 motor/blades when they have a brushless main. Anyone do this with the MCP or Genius? If so, how would one mount it?

I just hot glued it to the stock boom or fitted the complete boom assy.
You might want to try these if you want to upgrade from stock. http://www.wowhobbies.com/tailmotorsetfor4343ab-1.aspx The sr120 tail is heavier than shit, and I generally am running lighter than stock already. These are a better choice for a lot of reasons imo. Just clip the stock tail cage to fit it. I use some heatshrink to help keep it secured. The shaft is a little bigger but I still use the stock rotor after drilling it to fit (plan on ruining a few, a drill press helps). |

Great! So these offer a good deal more power than the stock mini motor? Do you know how much lighter than the sr120 motor these are or how much heaver than the stock?

I ordered that motor, based on your advice. With the stock tail, I can't take it past 60% pitch. Hope this improved it.
Have you tried any other tail blades? Does it have enough power to accommodate something larger?

Received my motor today. Worked awesome for about a minute until the brushes shorted inside the motor and the heli went spinning. No clue what happened there. I went to Wow's site to order a replacement...and OF COURSE they're sold out now! I have a support request in with Wow...not holding my breath there. I ordered another motor from rccarmax.com because they have one in stock and are also in SoCal. Yeesh.

Yeah I noticed... I sent them an email asking when it would ship. The whole reason I went with them is because its only 2 counties away, instead of it coming from China.

Wow is sending me a new motor, no questions, and I don't even need to return the bad one.
Love it when they make it easy!
