Has anyone tapped the screw holes on the OS Engines to take a larger bolt/screw? It is currently about M3 and I want to open it to M4. I'm thinking of going to button head allen bolts.
It will mean having to open up the body holes to 4mm - should be easy enough to drill out , and re-tap the carbie threads to M4; I'll be drilling to approx 3.3mm then tapping. ![]()

Thought you'd never ask!!
The existing screws got very loose. In fact I have now lost both and yes, I did threadlock them. I have some M3 but they are loose. I know I can use strong threadlock ................and I did time before last and boy were the screws hard to release, so hard I messed up the cross head on one. So I used Loctite last time and guess what! ![]() I have a lot of M4 in all shapes and lengths so are plentiful and being allen headed will remove more easily when I use the strong threadlock.

O.k ,as in principle i see nothing wrong , but to be on the cautious side , have a close look why OS decided on M3 , I am sure it is a engineering decision and not some pinhead that decided that M3 fly better in the wind

Indeed, I think you could be very right but it's more a matter of keeping the engine in service and the current size of screw isn't cutting it.

What I am looking out for is if someone says don't do it and tells me why. I've never done this before and am thinking out loud rather than answering my own post.

Thinking out loud. I talk through the pros and cons of the options. Drives my son nuts. He just wants the answer given to him and he thinks I'm changing my mind over and over.
