Default V2.37 Update recommendations.

Hi Tim, Thanks for clearing up the issue relating to the use of 2.37 without an installed and functioning HD, in the other thread that related to the bad ccpm error, which I see is now resolved.

As I was thinking about this my attention was drawn particularly to the last section of the above quote, which I extracted from your clarification post.

I already did the upgrade, flew it, and tested the ER, and aside from the fact that I haven't got the new set-up fully trimmed out yet, nor have I got it set to maximise the performance of my MicroBeast in the way I had it before, I would say that the ER performed perfectly well.

This being the case, am I okay to fly without the HD module, since I have jumped the gun and upgraded to 2.37. All seemed well, so I suppose my question is, is there anything you can say with regard to why you would not recommend the upgrade. Might I experience problems that were not evidenced in my relatively short single pack flight with only a few ER simulations, whilst up high? Perhaps this is not for public knowledge, and if so no problem, but at least if you think I should avoid flying now, having wrongly performed the upgrade, then I will, until my HD module arrives.

Would be a pity though, there is some good weather due, and we get precious little of that in the UK, or at least that has been the case this summer. Ha, what summer!

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Hi:

You should not have any problems continuing on with v2.37. The only reason I issued the part of the statement you quoted was because I'm concerned we may have our hands full debugging any issues that may come up as a result of throwing the Hard Deck Module into the equation. I just didn't want a situation where we were also trying to troubleshoot upgrade issues for customers who are not even going to be running the Hard Deck Module at the same time. If the Hard Deck Module is not installed (you answer no to the ACCY question during Quick Setup), or you answer no to the static streamer installed? question, then even in v2.37 firmware, the CPII just does the normal old ER. So I would not expect you to notice any changes in the way the CPII operates for you, nor would I expect any problems.

Fair comment. That makes perfect sense. Sorry for jumping the gun, and causing one of those very support issues that you were trying to avoid.

I did set it up as you described, and indeed experienced no issues. I hope to be able to get in many more flights on Friday to finalise my settings, so that I know the CPII is working exactly as I want it, prior to the arrival of the HD module.

Can't wait.

Thanks again for your time.

Cheers
