Hi ,
I have a stock mcpx v2...i do inverts and basic flying practice with it... I seen stock nano cpx handling 3d moves quite well... Shall i take the plunge n get a nano? I heard the brushed motor gives away? Is stock nano having tail issue like mcpx?? Doc |

A much better next heli is the 130X. Awesome flying heli. I have a nano it flys good but my main motor is getting weak. I have a brushless upgrade on an mcpx. It becomes fragile with the extra power.
Hope this helps.

Hey Keith but aint 130x torque tube gears strip everytime you crash or land rough.?
My mcpx must have gone 40 crashes by now. I want a practice heli for 3d...So, it should be more resilient. If 130x can resist these many crashes then, i will buy that |

Between the Nano and Mcpx BL I would pick the Mcpx BL. My favorite is the 130 X, easier to fly and more stable than the Nano and BL. With that said the the 130 will take more time to keep it flying. It will surprise you on how well it handles a crash. My buddy crashed into his truck and picked it up and kept flying. I fly my 2 130's much more than my Nano and BL. I also work on them more.
If you fly in your house get the Nano. If you fly outside go for the Mcpx BL or 130 X Here is a video I did showing size comparisons

Nano for inside, mcpx bl for outside. As for the 130x, I like the mcpx bl way better. More time flying, less time fixing.
You cant go wrong with a Nano, I have over 100 runs on my stock motor and still going. Crashed it hard a couple times and have only replaced blades and skids and I tore up the canopy but just taped it up. |

I'd go with the mCPx BL myself and I have just about all of Blades small helis...
Unless you are planning on flying indoors, that high powered mCPx BL will tear up walls...

Blade is selling metal tail gears for the 130, I have read mixed reviews. I tried some from China that did not last long. I hope the Blade gears work out.

That’s what I have, Nano for in the house and indoor club flying, the 130X for indoor club and outdoor flying. I try to do most of my crashing with the sim first and the Nano second! Stock Nano motors are great while they last, and cheap if you can find them. HH and the aftermarket do make all metal gears if that’s what you decide you want. IMHO, the stock plastic gears in the 130X are a good thing. If you don’t break a plastic C or D gear in a tail blade strike you’re more likely to break something more expensive or difficult to replace, like a blade grip, pitch slider, an A or B gear or you might twist the TT, bend the tail shaft, etc. I’d much rather replace a C or D gear. They’re cheap and take 5 minutes to replace. As for crashworthiness, nothing compares to the Nano! But I’ve seen some ridiculous crashes with 130X’s and then seen them pop right back up! If you remember to hit TH before the crash it’s amazing what these little guys can survive! They’re tougher than some folks might give them credit for. I’ve seen similar crashes with MCPX BL and they didn’t always end as well.

I have both and I need both! I am a complete addict and I can fly my nano anywhere in the house without worrying about tearing up stuff, well besides my wife plants.
The nano is so freaking snappy that once you are able to fly it, everything else will seem slow in comparison. The 130 is just awesome! I have crashed it about 10 times and the only thing that needed to be replaced was the A gear. I got a metal one to replace it. The landing gear broke but I fixed it with liquid electrical tape. The canopy mount tip broke but I just file a little off of the remainder and press the canopy on harder. The 130 is easy to fly. Too easy in comparison to other helis I have. It gets the shakes at high speeds and I have to carefully spool up or the tail blows. Other than that, I can take my hands off of the controls for at least 4 secs before I have to recover the bird. I would say if you are learning, get the Nano. It takes a beating!! The main motor needs to be replaced frequently. Something is wrong with mines now. Might be the batteries because I went brush-less and now I have no punch but before then I had no punch as well.... I learn CP on a Blade CP Pro and it was a money pit of a bird. I probably have $1,300 into a $170 bird trying to make it fly right and it still to this day sux but! I have 2 450s and the amount of money I have spent fixing, buying new and blah blah blah is crazy! $$$ Every crash cost $50 or more. With these little birds, you will be flying 3D in no time because your butt want be so clenched when flying and scared to crash. You will start doing things that you tried or could do in the sim but was too scared to do in real life. Just pick them up and try again unlike other birds where you will spend the next day repairing just to crash again. The answer is Both! |

Thanks Ron and Smok.
U guys are right..Will go first with nano cpx...I have learnt a lot of basics on mcpx as i am no more afraid to TRY a new thing...I crash a lot at this stage, with mcpx i crash and start flying again.. The same thing will be with nano...12 dollar (INR 650) for spare motor, i believe i can bear the cost.. |

My 35c eflight batts came yesterday and what a difference they made! Brushless Nano flys just fine now with the new batts so I guess after so many recharges the batts I had just couldn't push the brushless setup. $5 for the 150mah 35C at Horizon Hobby, I would say very worth it for additional batts outside of the two you get in the box.
I bought six so I could charge them in series acting as one 6S batt using a special harness I purchased from Progressive RC. The stock setup works fine with the stock batts though. Have fun!! |
