Default What's the crash-ability like on the 700e dfc?

Saw a post of someone's misfortune with their 700e dfc. Damage seemed reasonable. Thought I'd throw it out there and see what people's experiences are like. Any comparisons with other 700's owned would be good too.

Thanks

Default Funny thing happened on the way to the landing pad...

Although I have not yet had the pleasure.

I'd just say, that they all have the distinct ability to crash!! Smile

Less is more!!

I havent crashed it yet, got about 15 flights on it. A 700 is so big its hard to get out of control that much. Unless you are 2ft off the deck then it happens quite quickly.

I believe Spencer (smaze) posted pics of his crashed 700DFC a couple weeks ago. The tail box to boom block was completely destroyed, 1 frame side, dfc links and screws, main shaft, spindle, bearings throughout, blades and a couple of servos -- i think his was a hard hit though. Bottom line, 700's are spendy to lay down.

The bigger they are...the harder they crash. It's all about Inertia and 700's don't like to make contact with mother earth......Much of the damage sustained depends upon the position and how much momentum it has when it goes in. I've seen some crashes that you would have thought to be a rekit come out OK and others that you would have a hard time salvaging any parts from.

I personally try to keep my earth encounters with the big helis to a minimum.....

I try to avoid those encounters with any size.

All day everyday with a 500, a crash a month at least keeps you from fearing it. I fly my 500 1-2 ft off the ground flipping around as hard as I can to get comfortable doing it and when it crashes its no big deal. I actually now have a hard time crashing anything that is over 25ft in the air. I have so much time to save it that I have not had a crash from that high.
