Default Phantom GPS module Failure

Hi,

I got a new phantom and I am having a problem with the GPS.

When I read the phantom with the software I do not see any GPS mods
I keep getting compass error when I do the compass calibration Flashing red lights. In the software under IMU I do not get any readings under compass section. X = 0, Y=0, Z=0, Mod=666.
It is like the compass is dead.

I have a Naza H on a Gaui 425 and that works fine and the compass works great.

The phantom flys fine under ATTI mod.

Thanks

It sounds more like compass issues than GPS issues then correct?

You have a compass, GPS, and accelerometers all working together. In Atti only mode, it would be logical to think the naza relies heavily on the accelerometers, and in GPS, obviously it would add GPS positioning, and IOC would add data from the compass as well.

The phantom has the compass split off from the standard naza all in one dome. Pretty cheap way to diagnose would be to buy a new landing gear that has the compass module on it and see if that fixes it, and if not, possibly crack open the shell and see if all the wiring is plugged in correctly?

Has it ever worked? Have you exposed the compass on the leg to strong magnetic fields?

Make sure that the compass is securely plugged in to the flat lead coming from the Phantom. If this is not done, you will have problems flying. I would also try an advanced IMU calibration. Does the slider move from ATTI to GPS and is it highlighted blue when you move the mode switch?

spackermen thanks for replying.

Yes you are right I think the compass maybe bad. The compass plugs in to the GPSmodule in the top of the phantom.

I forgot to mention I also open the phantom and check the wiring and all looks good.

Also when I test the phantom in the software I get this error in the lower
left side NO GPS, It is on the advance screen.

The GPS work for about two hours then I got the error.

The unit is brand new It is only 2 days old.

Going to bring it back to the LHS where I purchase it.

Also it does not display GPS when I change the right switch from ATTI mode to GPS mode in the software. It did when I first got it.

The leds did display green when I switch it to
GPS mode now they display yellow only. Slow blinking.

I tried to compass calibration and like I said no reading on the XYZ.
When I expose the compass to a strong magnetic field same thing

After it is fixed or replaced it. I want to replace the transmitter and receiver with a DX18 and AR8000 receiver. So I want to fix it first.

It flys fine in ATTI mode.

Thanks

No the slider does not move ATTI to GPS. There is no GPS on that page anymore.

ATTI----ATTI---ATTI No GPS in the first spot.

I check the plug and plugged in.

Thanks

Sounds like your on it. I'd take it back. But it makes me wonder what's going on with it. I didn't know the compass plugs into the GPS board.

At the very least, if you have a receipt and the hobby shop won't take it back, dji USA would surely cover that with a warranty.
