Googled: round futaba simulator cable
Dont know the vendor, but I found this one at amazon, by Hitec. $15
It should work with both sims.
http://www.amazon.com/Compatible-Fli.../dp/B000RO3GZA

Googled the GWS part number: GWFSM002A
There's tons of vendors... $10 some places. pick one.

Got my JR x388 working with a mic cable, using the PPJoy and SMARTPropoPlus components. Superb sim!

Mark,

this sim rulz! I love it, the small helis aren't floating around at zero pitch like in AFPD or G3. It feels really like my SJM400PRO. If you give me instructions I could make you a model of this heli aswell

please consider putting the sound, it helps to feel the pitch and cyclic inputs through the rpm changes that you already simulate perfectly!

you're the man!

If you fly you are going to crash.

OK, I tried it.

I have a RF2 Interlink Controller. It didn't see it. So looking around, it was seeing my LogiTech Momo steering wheel. So I disconnected it. Still doesn't see the controller.

I can run a test and calibration in the Windows Game controller under Control Panel, but no go in the sim.

But when I have the LogiTech wheel plugged in, it sees that. Kind hard to fly a heli with it though.

The sim looks cool and I think it is awesome that someone has gone to the trouble to create it and then release it for free - great job.

My problem is I have a sim cable with the jack for a JR controller, but USB on the other end and I cannot get it to work. Do I need to make a cable with audio jacks on both ends or should I be able to get the sim to work with the USB interface ? I am not what you would call a computer boffin so any help I can get will be much appreciated as I am busting to give this sim a go seeing how everyone has only given it positive reviews.

Thanks in advance

Chris.

Thanks for all the compliments people! Wow... elevated to sticky status. I'm honored.
--------------------
Re the controller issues. forgive me if I repeat myself here.

USB should work. Many are successfully using USB controllers. It's probably actually better.

HeliSimRC uses the windows Game Controller API. Your controller MUST appear in the windows control panel -> game controllers. It must have the right game controller driver installed.. which I believe should be automatic for USB on XP.

I am building a list on the web site of controllers that work. If yours works, and isnt on the list... please email me your working JoystickMapping.dat file, from the install directory. Usually c:\program files\helisim

I will start building a list of controllers that dont work too. But I want to be SURE they are not just configured wrong, but actually incompatible. The main reason would be that they are specific to a particular sim, and do not go into the system via the game controller interface... but use a custom device driver instead. This MAY be the case with phoenix and Interlink 2. Please check your control panel ->game controller, and let me know if its there. If not, and we cant find a driver... its probably a dead end for that controller.
---------------------------------
I would also like to build a collection of canopies, (and backgrounds). I'm no artist, so the ones I made are pretty basic. So, if you make em... send em in. I'll post them.

And... I would like to build a collection of recordings of maneuvers done really well. Preferably with the stock setup. So people trying to learn those maneuvers (me) can play the recordings and watch the sticks...

So any canopies, backgrounds or recordings? email 'em to me!

freeware -at- marksfiles.net

thanks again ... I'm psyched that people are enjoying it.

PS. Work is under way on sound. But dont hold your breath, it will be a while.

It can only "see" the first controller in windows. You would have to un-install your Logitech for it to work. Its a top priority for me, to make it able to select a second (or third...) controller. coming soon

markb, it would be nice to have sound. But it does work well. And it does a lot for such a small file size!

Hi Mark,

I'm a french new user of your software and we are talking of it on a french forum. Congratulations for this really good job. It's awesome. I just bought a SJM400 pro and I was looking for a better simulator than FMS not to crash on the first flight. It's amazing the job you did. I was thinkling of buying a simulator like Realflight or another but I found my training tool.

I'm new in RC Helicopters, so thank you very much for releasing this simulator. I'll work hard on it to get some training.

Now that I control a little more the heli with sport parameters I tried for the first time with wind and I remarked something on the wing indicator (the wind sock???) well the orange tissue on the mast. Sorry I don't remember the exact name if it's not a wind sock. What I saw is that it indicates correctly the west and east wind but I feel that it is reversed for north and south. I feel that with north wind the indicator shows wind coming from in front of the helicopter at takeoff but I have to stear backwards to keep the heli steady as the wind would come from my back. On teh contrary with south wind the indicator is showing back wind but the heli reacts like with front wind.

Sorry if the subject has already been talked about I didn't read the last 3 pages.

Again I find your job really good and I'll follow the updates on it.

David.

PS: oh besides that, it works perfectly with the USB "E-sky simulator FMS" controller (the 4 channels one)
Edit : well in fact I was just missing one page of comments.

You're right. The indicator (wind sock) shows the direction selected on the control panel. But the N/S component of the simulated wind is reversed (relative to the selection and the sock). It'll be fixed in an update soon.

Thanks for pointing it out.

Even if it is the only controller connected?

I disconnected the LogiTech so only one controller showed up in Windows Game Controller list.

I will see about actually uninstalling it.
