Hi Hulk,

We just went through this in another post. You can search it out if you want. However, the bottom line is that the only benefit of the 9303 is timer that is hooked into the throttle hold function. Otherwise, the DX7 is much cheaper and does just about everything the 9303 does. I was planning on upgrading to the 9303, but the guys talked me out of it.

Keep 'em flying.

I have both the DX7 and an X9303. Functionally, pretty much identical. Programming wise, the 9303 is better organized and much faster with the scroll wheel. IMO, the X9303 feels better in my grubby hands. The DX7 just feels kinda cheesy.

The 2048 resolution with the AR9000 or the R921 is not available with the DX7. Also, the subtrim resolution on the X9303 is twice that of the DX7.

Is the X9303 worth the $200 extra? Dunno...

Not to mention that the step size of the digital trims can be adjusted so your trims can be course or very fine. Extra mixes, governor programming, throttle kill for the nitros, there's a number of feaures the DX7 doesn't have. Question is if you think you need them.

I have both the DX7 and the X9303.. Get the X9303... easier to program and easier to understand. Plus you
can transfer set ups from other 9303's whether SS or FM. Really makes set up a breeze.

Hi gmohr,

What’s difficult to program about the DX7? Everything is pretty straight forward.

Hulk is just starting out. He has a lot of stuff to buy. Don’t you think he’d be better off with a DX7? There are better places to spend the extra money he’d spend on a 9303, don’t you think? He can upgrade in a few years when he doesn’t have so much stuff to buy. It's expensive getting into this hobby.

Just my $.02.

Keep ‘em flying.

By Monday I will place my order it will run me about $2,000.00 for everything I need give or take a bit so I am sticking with the DX7 for now. By the time I get really good there will be better Radio out.

Could always use the DX7 until the 12X comes out. Bunch of features on that bad boy. Probably a price tag to go along with it. Probably get one myself just because.

As far as what it is worth. Like other said, depends what you want/need. If you have extra "cash" lying around (I'm jealous) get the best radio you can. Otherwise get what you can afford. I feel that getting a better radio is worth it because it will last a long time.

They don't tend to suffer crash damage.

Either way you can't go wrong.

Havn't heard of a release date yet but if you go to Horizonhobby website and do a search for 12x you can find a review of it. I would expect it would be out sometime this spring. I would like to upgrade to the 9303 but am kind of holding off for the 12x. I need a few more channels for AP work. I also like technology. 9303 would likely be all that I need but I will probably get the 12x anyway. I did have a 72mhz 9303 for a couple of years and sold it to buy the DX7 because 72mhz was glitching bad in this area. The 9303 is awesome for programming and features.

LJS,

I just found the menus much easier to navigate with the X9303. I own a DX7 as well and use it every
weekend and it is a great transmitter. But if I had to do it all over again I would have gotten the 9303 first.
No matter as he is getting the DX7. Again a great transmitter.

Peace!

I didn't know this was possible. Can you explain how? Do you need to use a mix or something?

Hi BC,

I don't have one, but I was told that this was one of the few advantages of the 9303 over the DX7. I remember that, because I'm very interested in that feature. Maybe someone who has one can explain it.

I was going to upgrade to the 9303, but I've been talked into waiting for the next latest and greatest -- maybe next year or the year after. The Dx7 is doing its job for the time being.

Keep 'em flying.

I have one, but that feature is not in the manual. I tried it too, but the hold doesn't start/pause the timer.

I have the Dx7 and not having the time auto-start is probably my biggest gripe. I constantly forget to start the timer and end up having to guess at when to land. I'm using a Futaba 9CHPS for my 450SE and I prefer the way it feels. Next time I will get a 9303 just because...but that said the Dx7 does the job...

Can't remember exactly but doesn't it have options for the timer for switch assignments? Could you just assign it to the throttle hold or another switch and mix to throttle hold?
