Default E5 6S Battery Choices

What would be a good choice for long flight times. Going to Run Stock 6S setup. Don't mind added weight because I don't do 3D yet. Looking for at least 6 / 7 minutes hopefully.

I guess I could just as easily go 12S. Whatever will get me the longest flight times.

Have no motor yet either so if that makes a difference... Chime In!

The sweet spot between optimal agility and long flight times seems to be around 4400mah and 4500mah. You get diminishing returns in flight times with the larger 5000+ mah packs, and agility is negatively affected. That's why I am selling my 5000mah packs and purchasing smaller 4400mah and 4500mah packs.

To give you an idea, sports flying on my E5 spinning 556/96 blades at 2407rpm, I consume around 554mah/min when using the larger 5000mah packs. So I should theoretically get around 7:12 min to reach 80%. With my smaller 4500mah packs, I consume around 537mah/min with similar flying. So, theoretically I should get 6:42 min to reach 80%. That's just 30 seconds increase in flight time, but you feel the slower agility.

I been using 2 Pulse Ultra 4500mAh packs along with 2 4400mAh Sky Lipos, and I can easily get 7 minute flight times. I did reduce it to 6:30 times, cause it was better for me and my concentration. That's no 3D, and all forward flight. I run with 556 mains and vary my head speed from around 1900 to 2150, which I know is really low compared to others, but I don't need all that speed right now with my current flying abilities. I could probably get 8 minutes if I wanted to. Last time (recalling from memory) I wasn't even putting in 3000mAh back in my packs, was around the 2700-2800 mark.

Gens Ace 4400 35C packs here getting 5:30 flight times with 2350 headspeed on a 12 tooth pinion. Multiple charges on the packs and haven't had issues yet and since they're low C rating they're usually in stock.

I am using a mix of Optipower 50C 4300Mah 6s Packs and also GensACE 60C 4400Mah 6S Packs. The Optipowers give me good all round performance and for my setup they balance the machine perfectly.

I would love to try the 6S 60C 4.4Ah GensAce's, but they never seem to be in stock.

Default Ok..

So, It looks like about 6 minutes is it unless you want to load it down. Machine is a bit heavy as it is but probably suit my "flight style" lol.

Thanks guys. Kit comes this week. I'll mull it over for a while.

Well.. I mulled it over. Going to go 12S with 2x2700 6S packs. Probably just grab TP's since they have nice packs. I have used there 6S1300's quite a bit.

Glacier makes a new 6s 6000 that fits the e5 at a very reasonable price. Should be great for sport flying.

I tried 4400s in my Align 550 and flight times suck for me. For 3d flying, I could only get between 3:30 & 4:00 of flight time pushing them right to 80%. With 5300s in the same heli, i can get 4:50 with no other changes and still have a bit left over (about 75% used).

You guys running 6S......is that on the 600 stretch version? I am planning an E5 build and would like to do the stretch version so I can share blades with my N5. Would you still go with 4400? Off topic...The CC is recommended? Why would you choose the HV120 over the 130LV? I am new to electric. Feel free to PM to avoid hijack.

I decided to go with an HV ESC in case I did ever decide to stretch it and run 12S.

Default Yikes!

I got these Optipower packs despite the weight and they really do weigh a lot. 485g! That's like 80g more than most. Wonder what's in them. To be fair they have long 10g wire leads but still.. kind of heavy. The color is right though.
