Default trex 450 pro v2 DFC to trex 450L Dominator

Hey guys,

I'm going to transfer my 450 pro v2 DFC to the new 450L

These are the parts i will order

Do I need any other parts? I planned to not get the frame just yet, If i order the frame do I need anything else aside from the Frame and bearing blocks?
scorpion hk-2221-6 is the motor I currently have, should I get the new 460 MX that comes with the 450L?

Didn't plan to run 6s just yet, will continue to run 3s until I upgrade the motor.

Just getting my thoughts down to see if anyone has any comments

Beacuse of the weight of the 450 360MM blades, i added these

My questions are:
Will I be okay with the v2 frame?
Can the servos handle it?
Should i get the 460MX 1800KV motor?

i think the mtr mount is a bit differnt, i didnt use my old pro mount, just went ahead an got the L,an the boom block, cause the boom block does have differnt mounting hardware cause it actually sets in the plastic inserts that are on the frame. i did the complete swap also just orderd ever thing new, skiddz stilll the same.

New motor mount from the 450l won't fit. It's too wide. The stock one will work fine.

Look for the thread in this forum about the guy who did this same strech. He had issues with the main blades and tail blades colliding while flying. Its called something like "dont do this with your 450dfc"

All you need is the main blades, torque tube/boom tube combo and servo linkage rod. Everything else is unnecessary.

Got 30+ flights on mine with the above changes, flys great with the stretch.

What speed control are you running with the 450MX on 3 cells? I would imagine the current load would be somewhat higher running the larger tail and main blades.

I am interested in stretching an old 450 pro myself but hate to sink a lot of dollars into a 450.

yeah the Align 360's are like a half inch longer than all the other "350mm" blades out there just so you know on a PRO stretch it may hit the tail blades especially if you're DFC (shorter main shaft) and if you run the longer tail blades.

I am very interested to know how the stretch will affect the esc/motor and bogging on 3s. How low does the collective pitch have to be to prevent bog? What headspeed on 3s?

The thing is that the 450l runs the exact same drive train as the 450 pro with almost all identical parts. The head is the same, the tail is the same, the booms are the same if you stretch, and the gears and boom blocks are the same. It is very bizarre that blades that work on the 450l don't work on a stretched pro. Even so, if you look at the images on the thread on this issue, the blades only overlap 3-4mm, so if you do have clearance issues, you can just slide the boom out of the boom block a little bit and everything should be perfect.

Interesting.

Has anyone stretched their 450 pro on 3 cells? If so, what esc did you use and how was the performance?

Don't use the Align 360's if you plan on doing the stretch this way. On the Pro they will collide with the tail blades, even 61mm blades. The 450L its not a problem because it is a further distance.

I am using RJX and Lynx 350's on my DFC Pro that I stretched just like you are talking about. Here is my stretched DFC pro, since the pic I have changed the head block out to the new 450L one. I figure flying it hard on 6S it's better to have 3 bolts securing it vs. one Jesus bolt. Having that bolt sheer off just once was enough convincing for me! Also I have the new beefier feathering shaft.

EDIT: I originally posted a pic of the my DFC Pro before I stretched it out. Here is a pic of what it looks like now. I am using the 460MX on 6S in it and also swapping out between the scorpion 2520-1880KV...which is a monster. The 450 Pro stretched is lighter than my stock 450L.

If your DFC head isn't upgraded yet, the new beefy FS kit is a must, it would be very sad to see one of your main blades let go

Even if the 450l does have more clearance, it puzzles me because I can't figure out which part provides it. The drive trains look identical to me.

It could be the way the frames are drilled.

The frames cannot affect this. If they are drilled differently, then the gears in the boom block won't mesh with the autorotation gear. The only thing about frames I can think of is if the main shaft is angled foreward, but that seems kind of stupid.

hmm yeah now I get why this is confusing. Maybe there's a difference in the old pro tail case to the new L tail case that looks like the 500/550 tail case.
