From towerhobbies, the code was in my e-mail. You have to be a "club member" ($9.99 fee) 011H8, good til Feb.28.

I hope they offer a bare kit so I could transfer my Outrage 550 stuff over since parts are getting harder to find. Matt

By bumping up my order to over $665. I got $100. off...so ya....can't beat the price! I guess I'll be in the test group for the first batch,........

I like my 325's, & the E700 is great, so this seems to be a smaller version with a belt drive tail.
Awesome bro

Can't wait for your report and a flight video. The more I think about it the more I doubt that Nick is using the combo's servos and/or power system. I found the following vid where they ensured me they using all-combo-components:

Thanks, yes I will give a full video report from unboxing to flying

I believe Nick said he did not have the stock motor in the video....wonder what else is not stock?

90amp esc is on the small side for a 550, but TT put this package together, so I will put it to the test.

Nick flies Futaba FBL systems these days, so odds are that's what he was using in the video.

I'm on the notification list at Tower for this one too. You just can't beat the price, even if you don't want to use the included FBL system!

Yeahh... I would be kinda unreal if the combo servos+motor are able to perform like that. Even Nick wouldn't be able to do that

I'd likely start with all the stock stuff, just to see how it does. I have a VBar Silver to install if I don't like the Ace FBL unit.

I'm not so concerned about the FBL unit. I have an iKon and a SK720 to put into if necessary
Mostly I'm curious about the servos - if they are any good

I have 2 GT5.1, and they fly great, couple guys have them on their G500's. This is the improved 5.2 so I expect it will be very good. The ace servo's on the 325s worked fine, but the plastic gears stripped if you hit a blade of grass.

These have metal gears so I guess we'll see.

Says mid Feb. so hopfully they will have them in next week

You guys all suck. : )

I just bought this thing. It's just too hard to pass up. I was looking for a 550 sized heli, and it's hard to beat an ARF for $550 shipped! (Free shipping promo + $100 off member promo). Plus...the Thunder Tiger brand has such a loyal following, I figured I need to give it a try. I'm not a smack flyer...so I am hopeful that the electronics will be just fine out of the box. Time will tell. I was thinking about it...and happened to pop on the Tower Hobbies site during my lunch break today and saw they were in stock (limited quantities). Ugh...time to make a move.

Now, I have to go break it to my wife... ; )

Thanks for posting this code. I was going to use the code for $60 off $600 purchase (014B8), because they don't seem to advertise the $100 off $665 purchase on the site. I was going to get a membership anyway for the free shipping...so I added the membership and the $100 code and BAM! it all came together during checkout. I had a couple of other items in my cart that I needed anyway to get the extra $ needed for the promo code.

So...if anyone is interested...

$650 for the E550FBL
$9.99 for the membership
Add anything else over $5
Add code 011H8

and get:

Free shipping (US)
and $100 off

That's pretty tough to beat!

Thunder tiger dot com has the manual available for download. The manual gives settings for the 5.1 FBL, but the heli comes with 5.2...

I wanted to use my 5.2 on my e620, but after trying it out on my e360 I realize it will take some getting used to and I will need some settings to start with as a reference. For the e360 I used the settings from the 5.2 manual, but I must have missed something... it wasn't holding cyclic or tail at all. Maybe I should just buy the new 550 so it's all setup for me....

Cool man! Ya it's a tough one to pass up for that price lol. I'm planning to make this my practice/beater heli.

Nick said his demo flight was with stock power, doubtful on stock servos, but I will ask on the FB page. IMO if your going to demo a machine, it should be as it is sold. I'm not worried about FBL, GT5 is solid

I guess that means mine should be shipping also Received the spare canopy today with the green decals.

Awesome! More compatible parts to keep my Raptor 30 flying ;-)

Now if only I had spare change, this would make a great stable mate to the R30.

So the e550 manual has settings for GT5.1. They also show the GT5.2 in the picture with the cables/pins out the SIDE of the heli, but as far as I can see the GT5.2 can't be mounted that way...

I'm trying to mount the gt5.2 on my blade300x to practice setup of the gt5.2 but I can't see how they could get it to work. (now that I really think about it, it's kind of silly to force us to mount it with the pins to the front or back, when the other side is the touch pad.)

Can someone help me with what the max size battery this thing can take. I read on one of the forum threads that it could take a max of 44mm x 50mm, but that's the only source I was able to find. Every 5000mah battery I have looked at is larger that 44mm on any side.

Anyone know for sure?

Also...any recommendations on inexpensive ones? I generally run Turnigy or Zippy. They've worked well for me. I wanted to try Gens Ace because they seem to be fairly reasonable in price, but I don't know where to find them in stock.

This is from the GT5.1 manual, if you set it to Norm you should be able to mount with pins out the side.
