Default SK360 Electronic Flybar setup and review

OK folks. Kevin and I worked on getting the SK360 setup and used his existing Trex500 flybarless heli.

In order for me to make setup videos I first need to know how to set it up and what parameters do what in the setup software. Thus I will first release test flights and with some comments about what we changed and tweaked.

Out of the box just the basic setup worked great! We had to dial down the Hiller gain a touch from 50% to get rid of a little wobble. After that it flew fine and pretty standard. Slightly faster than a flybar version and very locked in feeling. We did not shoot that video as Kevin wanted it to be a little faster. So all we did was increase control gains from 180 to 230.

Here is that flight test video

Then we wanted to see if we could get it tweaked even more and make it crazy fast like Kevin likes the 500 with his V-stabi. We increased control gain to 280, lowered dampening gain 2 clicks, and increased hiller gain a touch. This video shows how darn fast you can make this thing work. We still had a little high speed shake (crack ) so some more tweaking is needed but we are getting there.
Here is that flight test video

Alas Kevin had a crash so testing stopped.

Stay Tuned.....Expect more to come SOON along with full install, setup, and head layout videos!

Thanks Bob!

Looking forward to a setup video.

Would also be nice to have a video showing a T-Rex 450 head conversion

The only thing better than Axe CP flybar paddles on a T-Rex 450 is no flybar at all

Yupp, I got a SK360 on order

Is there any way for you to do a test with it on a multi blade head for scale use?

Awesome!

As one of the early adoptors' of the SK360, the hardest element to grasp is how to troubleshoot electronic setup issues. Oscillations, pitching, wobbling, drifting, phasing, and on and on and on. Then you have Bell Gain, Hillier Gain, Dampening Gain, Hillier Decay, Pots on the Gyro and the Advanced Tab settings and the ratio between them, and on, and on...

If I could make a suggestion, I think the video's should focus on resolution of problems and explanations of how to fix them. Show a video's of 1. Hillier decay at 0 and 100%. 2. Hillier too high. 3. Bell too high. 4. Bell Hillier ratio too close. 5. Bell Hiller ratio to far apart. 6. Dampening gain to low/high. 7. Swash mixing to high, low. 8. Throw a set of unbalanced blades on and see if you can induce vibration problems. 9. Test the vibration filter and see what the effect it... And any other one's people can think of.

These could all be put in 1 or 2 videos with the different sequences edited together. This is no easy task and I can be little help from Michigan,

Understanding what's not right and how to adjust it is the key to getting luring mass appeal to this huge leap forward in RC technology (based on price and capability). And, of course, mass consumption = lower prices.

Hopefully the aftermarket guys are on to this technology and we get lots of flybarless head options with the proper geometry for direct swash to blade grip links!!!

OHHHHHH, and how I would love a set of Titanium turnbuckles (from swash to grip) for dead nuts adjustment of blade tracking... I get goose bumps thinking about +/- a 1/4 turn for length adjustment...
