Thanks for the headsup. I hadn't seen that one.

I'll give it a shot for $20 :-)

If you can ever get it without Steam, I'll get it.

It looks like it has the most potential out of all the ones I've seen.

I just got this last night. Really liking it so far. Freerider has been a good learning tool, but I have been getting a little bored with it. Looking forward to online play.

You may want to check the Freerider thread. People have gotten Spektrum radios to work with Freerider, and if it works with Freerider, it should work with LiftOff. I'm using a Taranis, but I didn't change anything when I switched from Freerider to Liftoff. Same radio settings, same USB cable, etc.

BTW, Liftoff is much more difficult than Freerider. I'm still having trouble getting the hang of it, even with flight controller settings on low. The good news is after trying Liftoff for several hours, I switched back to Freerider and i was able to zip around the Meadow faster than I ever have.

How realistic is liftoff to the real thing? I have been practicing with this for a few weeks now and finally able to not crash every five seconds but havent flown real fpv quad yet just my nano fpv which is joke.

Have you flown the Nano in agility mode yet?
I feel like Liftoff is pretty close to the real thing.

Oh that's great to hear. Yes I can zoom around the house in agility mode with goggles on but still struggle to make one lap on liftoff through the gates on the easy course with hay bales.

Bleh, no way I can get this to work. I have had no problem setting FreeRide and neXt up with the dongle I'm using, but no matter what I do the throttle goes nuts when I try to calibrate, or it dont work at all. For the time beeing, a waist of my money...

Bought it and got a refund. The physics are miles away from reality for me, Freerider feels much better, I only fly acro mode though.

Interesting. A lot of friends who are really good FPV pilots say the opposite. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with how your quad is set up in real life that makes it match up to one or the other better. I feel like I'm learning to be a lot more precise with Liftoff vs Freerider. I really have to focus running through the gates on Liftoff. I can switch to Freerider and fly much faster with less effort/focus.

No it doesn't, actually. I'm not that great of a FPV pilot. The rates on my quad are pretty low because I suck. Isn't the best way to improve your skills to steadily make a task more challenging? And does it make more sense to do that with something that actually costs money when it breaks, or something that resets at the press of a button? If it's not at all challenging to fly around in the sim, you're clearly awesome at this and I wonder why you're even using a sim in the first place. You should always be challenging yourself by going faster, lower, doing more tricks, etc. If not, then what's the point?

You say Freerider "feels much better". I say Liftoff "feels better". Is there an objective method to show which one of us is right? I've played around with settings on both sims and to me, Liftoff feels more realistic. However, like I just stated, I'm sure that how you have your quad set up in real life probably has a lot to do with which one you prefer.

I was simply sharing what I've been told by other FPV pilots that I know. Here's an example from one of the fastest guys in my race league: http://paulnurkkala.com/simulators-vs-video-games/.

Of course, YMMV. Whatever works best for you is what you should use.

I just downloaded it and i think the lift off is harder then my real vortex. i will mess around with it more but it definitely seems more difficult to me

I agree, liftoff seems harder to me as well. I have been practicing my arse off with nano fpv in agile mode for nearly a month every night like a part time job and I have been scared to fly my new vortex 250 because of how bad I am on the sim. I thought I would wait until spring to try the vortex and by then I should be good at fpv. Well today we had a nice day and I tried the vortex just to see what it was like and the vortex 250 in acro mode is a dream to fly compared to the nano and sim. So smooth, so much easier than the sim I was surprised. I do have an embarrassing amount of heli hours so sure that helped but fpv sim seems way harder to me than real thing. Might be a good thing, heck if you can master sim then the real thing should be walk in park.
