Hey, just like to know what is the average training hours (on G4 or any other sim) for one person to take from no heli experience to be able to hover the heli (Trex 450 size) in the straight on, side on and front on configurations to the point where he/she will be able to land at any spot they want?

I had a read of another post yesterday, realised why no body would reply to my post... I thought was a stupid question, but then I found all the answers I need on another post. Then I realised how much of a fool I made of my self ...
Thanks for the reply Jim. |

Everybody progresses at a different rate, but for myself, I found that after about 32 -40 hours of practice, I was getting pretty good at hovering in all orientations, but that does not include inverted hovering. Once you learn how to hover, forward and backward flight goes quicker. In there you also learn to make smooth transitions into a hover from forward or backwards flight, which is critcal to landing.

I haven't been logging my simulator hours but I have owned RealFlight G4 for about two months. I am already at the stage where I can hover inverted, but only for about two or three seconds at a time.
I estimate G4 has saved me about $450,000 in parts and repairs. |

What, only $450,000?
I think I'm close to $1,500,000 |

Hey Inserico, I got my sims in February and it took me about 4 wks. before I could hover and take off , fly around and land. The landings were rough for another month or so. I practice about 2-3 hours a day, since I'm retired. I can do rolls, loops backwards and forward, funnels, and some inverted. I still may cash when I get to carefree. On the inverted I just started flying around, the past couple of weeks. I still allow myself some time to go back and do nothing but hover, for me I gained better control of my hover by loosening up and flying around and trying other things. Good luck and hang in there.
