Avant Aurora Build Videos
YES! Big thanks to Avant RC for asking me to do a build video on this heli. Also big thanks once again to Ed at GrandRC.com for sponsoring the build with equipment! Ed rocks and because of him and Avant RC I can bring you these fine videos on this heli.
I am going to be taking my time with this one to make sure I cover everything I can to help you be successful with this heli. It's gonna kill me because I want to fly it this weekend!!! But it will be worth the wait and fun to video it so I must hold back the urge to just build it  So with that... ON WITH THE SHOW First up! Video Link ->What's in the box!! (34 Megs) Video Link ->Step 1, Bag 1, Left frame side (46 Megs) Updated 5/23! The button head screw for the top main shaft bearing block needs to go towards the FRONT of the heli not towards the rear. The manual has been updated on the Avant web site and I updated my video Step 2 Bag 2. Video Link ->Step 2, Bag 2, Main Gear and Bearing Blocks (68 Megs) Video Link ->Step 3, Bag 3, Clutch Bell Assembly (48 Megs) Video Link ->Step 4, Bag 4, Tail Drive Assembly (75 Megs) Video Link ->Steps 5&6, Bags 5&6, Final Frame Assembly (52 Megs) This section is in two parts! Video Link ->Step 7 Part 1, Bags 7, CCPM Arms (49 Megs) Video Link ->Step 7 Part 2, Bags 7, Swash Plate (30 Megs) OK for Step 8, BAG 8..... If your using a YS SR motor then watch the YS motor mod video. If using a OS .91 then no need to watch this video! Video Link ->YS SR Mid Motor Mount Mod (46 Megs) On to Step 8, Bag 8 Video Link ->Step 8, Bags 8, Clutch, Fan, and mounting the Motor (48 Megs) OK Step 9, bag 9... This step also includes mods needed to the fan shroud for the GOV sensor and the Hatori header. Video Link ->Step 9, Bags 9, Fan Shroud and mods for GOV and Pipe (60 Megs) I am skipping Step 10, Bag 10, Landing Gear for video reasons. It too hard to get the heli under the camera for servo install etc... I will come back to this later! Video Link ->Step 11&12, Bags 11&12, Fuel Tank and Remaining frame assemblies (55 Megs) Step 13, Bag 13 is the shaft drive and this come pre-assembled for you for now. Thus I wont be doing this step. I have included installing the shaft drive in the boom at the end of step 14 Step 14, bag 14; Tail assembly is large and is in 3 parts. Video Link ->Step 14, Bags 14, Part 1 - Tail Case (55 Megs) Video Link ->Step 14, Bags 14, Part 2 - Tail Pitch Slider (44 Megs) Video Link ->Step 14, Bags 14, Part 3 - Tail Hub and final Tail Assembly (64 Megs) I am skipping Step 15, Bag 15, Boom supports and fins for video reasons. It too hard to get the heli under the camera for servo install etc... I will come back to this later! Step 16, bag 16; Head assembly is large and is in 3 parts. I made a MOD to my boom supports so this might be worth watching... Video Link ->Steps 13 & 15 - Boom Supports and Landing Gear (41 Megs) OK other stuff I felt I should cover! Video Link ->Hatori SB-19FH and Kasama Header (30 Megs) Video Link ->YS SR Fuel Plumbing (15 Megs) THATS IT guys! I CANT wait to maiden this thing. Team Avant locally is joining me to have fun! I have to say this was one of the funnest videos I have ever done and I hope what I did helps anyone that gets a Aurora! OMG... talk about a FUN TIME! I did my maiden at the OCMA club flight location. www.flyblackstarr.org. It turned out to be a mini funfly let me tell you! There were 50 people there anytime during the day with people coming and going all day! UNBELIEVABLE how BIG the turn out to see my maiden but I am sure to see the locals from team Avant fly! I have to thank Avant for coming out for sure! Augusto, Jason Bell and Father, Brandon Updike and Father, Justin Barry.... These guys put on a SHOW! Augusto wanted to make sure my maiden was a success and he and I worked together to make that happen but let me tell you... other than some simple radio programming and trim changes.... IT ROCKED! I have to say Augusto told me that this Aurora was one the of BEST builds he has ever seen! I am proud of that and those facts are in my build videos! Do it like I show and you WILL be successful Big thanks to Augusto for supporting me and my build vids that help users be successful! OK so I have MANY videos of Aurora's flying at this mini event and here they are: My REAL 2nd flight video.... I just want you all to know how NERVOUS I was so this wont be that great of flying. I had a dream last night that I was at my LHS and they had an Aurora in stock. I opened the box like it was Christmas morning! Inside everything was beautiful and it came with a set of V-blades!!! Crazy how dreams are...... don't get me going about the dream I had where I was flying an R/C Raisin.
