I've painted different kinds of foam planes, using blue 3M tape. That probably doesn't give as fine a line as green, but haven't had trouble with sticking too hard and peeling off whatever is underneath. Used on Depron, EPP, and Elaptor (EPO I think).
If you're going to use a standard spray can (rattle can) I have had good results from Krylon "Fusion", available from local hardware store. Doesn't melt foam like some do.
